Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Work Mode: Onsite

Contract: 12 months


Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and research-driven Research Associate to support the delivery of key research and policy initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with project leaders on quantitative analysis, large-scale data interpretation, and the development of research outputs that inform strategic and policy-related decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support project leads in conceptualising, developing, and executing research and policy-related projects
  • Conduct quantitative and econometric analysis on large-scale datasets to generate actionable insights
  • Develop and contribute to research reports, policy papers, and other written deliverables
  • Assist in the design, planning, and management of research projects
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities, including workshops, meetings, webinars, and briefings
  • Coordinate project logistics, documentation, and administrative tasks (including minute-taking where required)
  • Provide guidance to interns or junior team members when needed
  • Collaborate across teams and provide support on cross-functional initiatives as required


Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Econometrics, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related disciplines
  • Additional qualifications, such as a PhD, are also advantageous.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in research, policy analysis, or project management
  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, including experience in econometric or statistical analysis
  • Proficiency in analytical tools such as R, STATA, SPSS, or EViews
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within tight timeline


Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in interdisciplinary research environments
  • Demonstrated track record of publishing research outputs, including journal articles, industry reports, white papers, or policy briefs
  • Familiarity with applying multiple research methodologies, particularly quantitative approaches, to deliver rigorous and well-rounded analyses
  • Understanding of social science research frameworks and methodologies
