Our Client:

Our client is an established international organization providing premium equipment, consumables, and technical service solutions to commercial and industrial service-based sectors, with a growing presence in Malaysia and strong regional support.


Role Overview:

The General Manager will lead the full Malaysia business operation, covering commercial growth, profitability, market expansion, people leadership, customer relationships, service excellence, and operational performance. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong business ownership, financial discipline, and practical execution capability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall Malaysia business operation with full accountability for revenue growth, profitability, operational performance, and long-term business sustainability.
  • Develop and execute the local business strategy in alignment with regional and group direction, while adapting plans to market conditions, customer needs, and competitive dynamics.
  • Drive commercial growth across equipment sales, rental solutions, service contracts, consumables, spare parts, accessories, and other recurring revenue opportunities.
  • Strengthen key account relationships across corporate customers, multi-site operators, institutional accounts, channel partners, distributors, and strategic business partners.
  • Provide strong leadership to the commercial, service, operations, finance, and support teams to ensure cross-functional alignment and execution discipline.
  • Build commercial discipline across pricing, margin management, sales forecasting, pipeline visibility, project opportunities, and customer retention.
  • Oversee full P&L management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, working capital, cash flow, and EBIT performance.
  • Ensure operational effectiveness across supply chain, logistics, customer service, technical service delivery, inventory planning, and after-sales support.
  • Identify new market opportunities, growth channels, customer segments, and partnership models to expand market share in Malaysia.
  • Represent the organization professionally in the market and enhance brand positioning through customer engagement, service quality, and business reliability.
  • Develop a high-performing leadership team by strengthening accountability, communication, talent development, succession planning, and performance culture.
  • Work closely with regional and global leadership on reporting, business reviews, strategic initiatives, governance, and performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, financial, operational, regulatory, and group reporting requirements.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, customer feedback, and market risks to support timely decision-making and business planning.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Management, Finance, or a related discipline; MBA or postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 10–12 years of relevant business leadership experience, ideally with exposure to country management, general management, commercial leadership, or full P&L ownership.
  • Proven track record in B2B commercial environments involving technical products, equipment solutions, service-driven business models, or recurring revenue portfolios.
  • Experience leading medium-sized organisations, country operations, business units, or multi-functional teams across sales, service, operations, and support functions.
  • Strong financial acumen with hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, profitability improvement, working capital control, and management reporting.
  • Strong commercial capability in key account management, channel development, pricing strategy, negotiation, and market expansion.
  • Practical leadership style with the ability to balance strategy, execution, people development, and customer engagement.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively with regional leadership, headquarters, internal teams, partners, and key customers.
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on, customer-focused, collaborative, and results-oriented leadership approach.
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, decision-making, and change management capabilities.
