ABOUT CODETRACE
CODETRACE Sdn Bhd is a technology-driven automation solutions provider based in Shah Alam, Selangor. We specialise in machine vision, smart warehouse systems, and factory automation — engineering intelligent solutions that help industries operate with greater precision and efficiency.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a technically strong Automation Engineer to be the core builder on our engineering team. You will be focused internally — designing system architectures, writing code, developing machine vision algorithms, and engineering smart warehouse solutions from the ground up across AGV navigation, conveyor control, WCS integration, and factory automation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
› Design and build machine vision algorithms and applications for quality inspection, measurement, defect detection, and process control.
› Engineer smart warehouse automation systems — including AGV/AMR navigation logic, conveyor control, automated sorting, and RFID/barcode-based inventory tracking.
› Develop and integrate Warehouse Control System (WCS) modules to manage material flow, picking operations, and real-time inventory data exchange with WMS platforms.
› Write software applications and scripts (Python, C/C++) to interface with industrial hardware, process sensor data, and enable intelligent system behaviour.
› Define system architecture, select appropriate hardware and software components, and establish full technical specifications for new automation projects.
› Design electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and wiring diagrams; oversee panel assembly and hardware integration in-house.
› Build and test automation prototypes and proof-of-concept (POC) systems for new product development and internal R&D initiatives.
› Conduct internal system validation, performance benchmarking, and stress testing before handover to the application team for deployment.
› Document all engineering outputs — source code, hardware designs, test reports, and technical specifications — to ensure full project traceability.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
› Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
› Minimum 2 years of hands-on automation engineering or embedded systems development experience; fresh graduates with strong final year projects are welcome to apply.
› Proficient in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, or equivalent) and HMI/SCADA development.
› Solid programming skills in Python and/or C/C++ for industrial automation, data processing, or machine vision applications.
› Experience with smart warehouse systems — AGVs, AMRs, conveyor systems, WCS, or WMS integration — is a strong advantage.
› Experience with machine vision platforms (Cognex, Keyence, Basler, OpenCV) and image processing algorithms is a strong advantage.
› Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, and OPC-UA.
› Ability to design and read electrical schematics, P&ID drawings, and control panel layouts.
› Strong engineering fundamentals, logical problem-solving, and a passion for building robust, scalable automation systems.
