Company Background
Shearwater Asia Group ************* is a leading provider of Cloud-based services and software solutions across Asia, with a strategic presence in ASEAN and North Asia. As a premier partner for Oracle NetSuite, Workday Adaptive Planning, and Jedox, we are accelerating our EPM business line across Southeast Asia. We are currently seeking a motivated EPM Functional Consultant to join our expanding team in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, you will be at the forefront of delivering world-class planning and analytics solutions, leveraging the power of Workday Adaptive Planning and Jedox to transform our clients' financial operations.
About The Role
The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in financial or multidimensional modeling and the ability to bridge the gap between complex business needs and technical execution. As a Functional Consultant, you will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of EPM solutions, maintaining a healthy balance between client-facing advisory (requirements gathering, functional consulting and training) and hands-on system configuration (implementation).
Operating under the guidance of a Project Manager, you will work across both Workday Adaptive Planning and Jedox platforms to deliver high-impact solutions. This is a dynamic role where your technical expertise directly contributes to successful project go-lives and client transformation.
Responsibilities
- Partner with clients to analyze legacy planning processes and design modern, automated models within Workday Adaptive Planning or Jedox.
- Guide customers through design sessions and configuration decisions using industry best practices tailored to their unique business needs.
- Propose optimal technical solutions based on client requirements, budget, and timelines, maintaining flexibility as project scopes evolve.
- Build, configure, and troubleshoot complex EPM models, ensuring high data accuracy and system integrity.
- Maintain deep, up-to-date knowledge of features and functionalities for both Workday Adaptive Planning and Jedox platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow and integration between EPM solutions and external systems (ERP/Data Warehouse/HCM/BI etc.).
- Support clients through all project phases, from discovery and design to testing and go-live, ensuring a smooth transition from legacy systems.
- Provide regular progress updates to clients, Project Managers, and Engagement Managers while working independently under limited direction.
- Develop training materials and conduct workshops to empower end-users and ensure long-term system adoption.
- Assist in pre-sales activities, including attending sales calls and delivering high-impact solution demonstrations.
- Work with Project Manager to review Statements of Work (SOWs) for accurate scoping, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Actively participate in internal training to share skills and learnings with the wider Shearwater Asia team.
- Hands-on experience with system integrations and API development.
- Project management experience in SaaS implementation environments.
Qualifications
- A Min Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BSc) in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience (such as CPA, ACCA etc.) will also be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) implementation and solution design, specifically focusing on FP&A and Financial Consolidation solutions.
- Proven track record in implementing SaaS EPM solutions. Existing certification and specific experience with platforms like Workday Adaptive Planning or Jedox are highly preferred; experience with Anaplan, Oracle EPM, SAC, CCH Tagetik, or Board is also valuable.
- Prior experience in technology or business consulting is strongly preferred, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- System Integration design and related data/coding knowledge is preferred. Experience with JavaScript, source system integrations, API development and ETL will be an added advantage.
Other Requirements
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in a second language such as Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, or Cantonese is a significant advantage for supporting regional clients.
- Equally comfortable leading discussions in both live and remote customer environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a natural ability to troubleshoot technical system issues.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high data accuracy and integrity.
- Prior functional consulting experience within a Big 4 firm (EY, PwC, KPMG, Deloitte), or GSI technology consulting firm (Accenture, etc.), or a specialized EPM partner is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage client expectations and maintain professional relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- High proficiency in Excel and SQL is essential for data modeling and integration tasks.
- Strong capability in PowerPoint and the ability to structure and deliver clear, professional presentations and training programs to end-users.
- Experience developing and delivering training programs in related subject matter expertise fields (eg. Scrum training, Solution Design, Development Best Practices etc).
- Strong and proven project management (Scrum Master, PMP or experience equivalent) and leadership skills with a track record of implementing large scale and complex projects, and with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
