Responsibilities

Position Overview

Our Client is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Chemist to perform sample analysis, prepare test reports, and manage sample collection and delivery processes. The role involves conducting various tests on water, soil, minerals, and construction materials, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out comprehensive analysis of water samples, including physical, chemical, and microbiological assessments.
  • Test and evaluate ores, minerals, and construction materials such as concrete, aggregates, and scale samples.
  • Operate laboratory instruments like pH, EC, TDS meters, UV-visible spectrophotometers, ovens, and incubators with precision.
  • Prepare reagents and standard solutions, ensuring proper standardization for accurate testing.
  • Manage chemical storage and handling in strict accordance with safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Calibrate laboratory glassware and testing equipment regularly to maintain accuracy.
  • Perform both qualitative and quantitative tests following established methods and procedures.
  • Generate detailed test reports, ensuring data accuracy and quality assurance before submission.
  • Coordinate sample collection and testing activities at client sites or in-house laboratories.
  • Participate in field testing activities, complying with international standards and internal protocols.
  • Ensure all laboratory activities meet ISO 17025 standards and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to execute testing schedules efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine cleaning, and conduct safety checks.
  • Engage with clients during witnessed testing procedures and provide professional communication.
  • Assist in other departmental tasks as needed to support organizational goals and project deadlines.
  • Drive to client locations for sample collection or testing support as required.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of a safe and compliant working environment following HSE standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Possess a diploma or degree in chemistry or a related field, with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and the ability to work under pressure, including flexible shift work if necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Solid mathematical aptitude and understanding of laboratory calculations.
  • Hands-on experience with testing equipment operation and laboratory safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently within a laboratory setting and follow standard protocols.
