Responsibilities

Overview

Our Client is seeking a dedicated Chemistry Laboratory Technician to support sample analysis, preparation, and reporting activities within their testing facility. The role involves conducting various tests on water, soil, minerals, and construction materials, ensuring accurate data collection and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive analysis of water samples, including physical, chemical, and microbiological assessments.
  • Prepare reagents, standard solutions, and calibrate laboratory instruments to maintain testing accuracy.
  • Operate laboratory equipment such as pH meters, conductivity meters, spectrophotometers, ovens, and incubators.
  • Handle and store chemicals following safety data sheet protocols to ensure safe laboratory practices.
  • Conduct tests on ores, minerals, soils, aggregates, concrete, and scale samples in accordance with established methods.
  • Assist in field and site testing activities, adhering to relevant international and internal standards.
  • Generate detailed test reports, ensuring data integrity and quality assurance before submission to clients.
  • Coordinate sample collection and testing visits to client sites, maintaining professional communication with stakeholders.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment through routine cleaning, calibration, and preventive checks.
  • Ensure all testing activities comply with ISO 17025 standards and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and support departmental goals.
  • Assist with general laboratory maintenance and inventory management of chemicals and supplies.
  • Engage with clients during witnessed testing procedures, providing professional support and explanations.
  • Participate in additional tasks as assigned by management to help achieve organizational objectives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Possess a diploma or degree in chemistry or related field, with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating laboratory testing equipment independently and safely.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude for data analysis and report preparation.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, including nights or weekends, as operational needs dictate.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and chemical handling protocols in a laboratory setting.
