Job Description

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SSHE Manager (Subsea Safety, Health, and Environment) to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of safety, health, and environmental strategies for technically complex offshore projects across the region. This is not just a shore-based safety role—it’s an opportunity to leverage your operational expertise in subsea environments to drive tangible improvements in HSE performance.

You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineering leads, and offshore teams to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, conduct risk assessments, and foster a strong safety culture. Your subsea experience will be critical in shaping safety outcomes across the full lifecycle of operations—from mobilisation to execution and demobilisation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and initiatives aligned with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead safety culture programs to embed best practices across offshore projects.
  • Represent the company in client and contractor engagements, ensuring HSE compliance and performance.

2. Operational Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct and review risk assessments, safety cases, and operational procedures for subsea activities (e.g., diving, survey, subsea engineering).
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with offshore regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on safe execution of operations, including emergency response and incident management.

3. Stakeholder Engagement & Training

  • Coach and mentor offshore teams on HSE best practices, including onsite safety coaching.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering leads to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Facilitate HSE training programs and workshops to enhance competency and awareness.

4. Incident Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and hazards, implementing corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analysing HSE performance data and trends.
  • Ensure timely reporting and documentation of HSE metrics for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in subsea operations (e.g., diving, survey, subsea engineering).
  • Strong knowledge of offshore regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, local Malaysian regulations).
  • Demonstrated leadership in high-risk environments, with excellent stakeholder engagement and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety cases, and incident investigations.

Preferred:

  • Professional certifications in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in Malaysia or the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Familiarity with digital HSE management systems and data analytics tools.

Skills & Competencies

  • Leadership & Influence: Ability to drive change and inspire a safety-first mindset.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of subsea operations and associated risks.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for reporting, training, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset to identify hazards and implement effective controls.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to shape HSE standards in a growing offshore energy sector.
  • Work alongside a dedicated team on technically challenging projects.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Professional development and career progression opportunities.

Application Process:

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and cover letter outlining their relevant experience and qualifications.

Note: This role may require occasional travel to offshore sites and regional offices.
