Data Analytics Engineer (Contract)

Company / Role Overview
A well-established consumer retail organisation is looking to hire a Data Manager to support ongoing data transformation and analytics initiatives. This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on building scalable data pipelines, managing cloud-based data platforms, and enabling business intelligence capabilities across the organisation. The role sits within the technology function and works closely with business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines, covering ingestion, transformation, modelling, and delivery
- Develop and maintain scalable cloud-based data architectures to support reporting, analytics, and evolving AI use cases
- Prepare structured, high-quality datasets to enable business intelligence and advanced analytics
- Act as the technical owner of enterprise data platforms, ensuring performance, stability, and continuous improvement
- Configure and manage data warehouse and analytics environments, including troubleshooting and optimisation
- Implement and maintain data governance standards, including data quality checks, validation rules, and documentation
- Support development of dashboards and reporting layers, improving accessibility and usability of data for business users
- Work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into practical data solutions and promote self-service analytics
Job Requirements
Must-Have:
- 4-5 years of experience in data engineering, data analytics, or data platform roles
- Proven experience working on data transformation or data platform initiatives in an enterprise environment
- Hands-on experience with Qlik Sense and/or Qlik Cloud for analytics and reporting
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data transformation tools
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Snowflake or equivalent)
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS and/or Azure
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Nice-to-Have:
- Demonstrated experience integrating AI or machine learning outputs into business workflows
- Familiarity with Python or similar languages for data processing or analytics use cases
- Exposure to data governance practices including lineage, quality, and compliance
- Background in retail or consumer-driven environments
