This talented individual is a creative professional that will serve an important role in our design team. The right candidate is a multimedia, or graphic designer, that has a design sense that can work for any media but is primarily versed in animation and other digital / multimedia design. The Multimedia Designer is also experienced in creation of digital assets such as web banners, email headers and graphics for social media. He or she has an innate attention to detail and is able to stay structured while delivering creative for multiple deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have a portfolio that reflects his/her design abilities and strengths. This position reports to the Head of Creative.

Basic Qualifications

• Diploma/Bachelor’s degree required
• Fresh grad welcome to apply
• Experience in advertising, media and/or technology industry a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Proven experience in design applied to motion graphics, video and multimedia
• A passion for anything digital, with strong knowledge of animation techniques, video and audio editing, storyboarding, 3D design/animation, web/interactive design and presentation design / development, email newsletter design
• Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
• A great sense of design, balance and typography
• Must be able to work as part of a team to arrive at best creative solution
• Collaborative approach / mindset
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with other designers, salesperson, and internal teams
• Attention to detail and a focus on quality is a must
• Strong work ethic and pride in delivering superior results
• Experience and expertise with current graphic design software and tools, practices and procedures including After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Google Slides and others
• Big Bonus to know – Frontend programming like HTML5 and CSS3
• Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, possibilities and limitations of digital media
• Organizational skills: Ability to prioritize assignments, and work successfully in a deadline driven environment
• Language skills: Speak, write, and articulate ideas in proper English.

Design Support 

• Serve as Multimedia Designer on a wide range of projects
• Work as part of a team and actively participate in internal kick-offs, brainstorming sessions and reviews
• Design to creative strategies that enhance marketing campaigns, digital initiatives and communications
• Ability to develop creative that follow creative briefs and adhere to business objectives
• Juggle multiple projects while developing high-quality creative and meeting deadlines
• Create successful designs for digital signage, events, web, social media, email and presentations using skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and Google Slides (or PowerPoint)
• Make sure designs adhere to digital specs and can successfully be launched on the respective platform
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Malaysiakini brand and maintain its integrity in creative development
