Jobs Kreate is recruiting on behalf of a client for a shipboard Assistant Cook position. The successful candidate will prepare basic food items for guests and crew, maintain a clean workstation and support efficient operations across different galley sections.

Build your international culinary career while sailing to exciting destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The actual vessel, itinerary and sailing region will be assigned by the company based on operational requirements.

Important: Cruise ship grading may differ from land-based hospitality structures. Candidates may be offered a position one or two ranks below their current land-based role, subject to the cruise line’s assessment and operational requirements.

• Open to Malaysian and Singaporean citizens only.

• This is a full-time position. Part-time applications will not be considered.

• Minimum 3 years of experience as an Assistant Cook or in a similar culinary position within a 4-star or 5-star hospitality or restaurant environment.

• Basic culinary and knife-handling skills are required.

• Able to prepare food according to recipes and instructions from the relevant supervisor.

• Able to work in different galley sections according to operational requirements.

• Previous cruise industry experience is preferred.

• Fluent in English with the ability to understand menus, recipes and operational instructions.

• Additional language abilities are an advantage.

• Strong teamwork, flexibility and ability to perform under pressure.

• Good knowledge of food safety, public health and sanitation procedures.

• Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Able to work a minimum of 11 hours per day, 7 days per week while onboard.

• Professional appearance and high personal hygiene standards.

Salary

• Salary: USD 1,250

• Contract duration: 6 months

• Prepare basic food items according to approved recipes and instructions.

• Maintain the assigned workstation in a clean, organised and service-ready condition.

• Complete mise-en-place before each service.

• Follow correct food preparation, storage and handling procedures.

• Apply clean-as-you-go practices throughout food preparation and service.

• Control food production and minimise unnecessary wastage.

• Separate and dispose of waste according to public health procedures.

• Work in any galley section assigned by the relevant supervisor.

• Handle kitchen equipment and company property safely and responsibly.

• Follow all public health, environmental, PPE, safety, security and emergency procedures.

• Support the culinary team with additional duties when operationally required.
