Jobs Kreate is recruiting on behalf of a client for a shipboard Video Technician position. The successful candidate will set up, operate and maintain professional video equipment for onboard entertainment venues, performances, lectures and special events.

Build your international entertainment career while sailing to exciting destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The actual vessel, itinerary and sailing region will be assigned by the company based on operational requirements.

Important: Cruise ship grading may differ from land-based organisational structures. Candidates may be offered a position one or two ranks below their current land-based role, subject to the cruise line’s assessment and operational requirements.

  • Open to Malaysian and Singaporean citizens only.

  • This is a full-time position. Part-time applications will not be considered.

  • Strong knowledge of professional video systems, including front and rear projection and large-format LED displays.

  • Experience applying basic show-control programming.

  • Previous experience in a TV studio, local television channel, video-production company, theatre-production company or similar shipboard position is preferred.

  • Experience in broadcasting, IT, communications or networking is an advantage.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Production, Media Production, Television Production or Film Production is required.

  • Relevant training and experience in video playback and projection systems may be considered in place of a degree.

  • Able to operate professional broadcast cameras such as the Sony PXW-Z150 or similar equipment.

  • Proficient in video editing using Apple Final Cut Pro X.

  • Able to operate projectors, video displays, servers, switches, routers and show-control components.

  • Strong understanding of browser-based software and IP protocols.

  • Proficient in databases, spreadsheets, word-processing systems and Watchout software.

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, scaffolding and theatre catwalks.

  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

  • Creative, flexible and able to work independently or as part of a team under pressure.

  • Guest-focused and service-oriented with a professional appearance and high personal hygiene standards.

Salary

  • Salary: USD 2,500

  • Contract duration: 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and maintain video systems for onboard entertainment venues and assigned shows.

  • Film and edit daily programmes, port talks, enrichment lectures and other onboard video content.

  • Programme the show-control computer during technical rehearsals.

  • Check all video equipment before each performance and ensure the show setup is complete and accurate.

  • Switch video sources and maintain the intended visual design and performance quality throughout each show.

  • Operate professional broadcast cameras and video-editing systems.

  • Terminate and maintain a range of audio-visual and data connectors.

  • Cross-train with the Broadcast Manager and provide cover when operationally required.

  • Support the Stage Management Team when approved and assigned.

  • Assist with video requirements for special events and onboard presentations.

  • Maintain show reports and update video-equipment inventories monthly.

  • Report faulty equipment and assist with routine equipment maintenance.

  • Coordinate clearly with the Broadcast Manager, Stage Manager and other onboard departments.

  • Attend technical rehearsals, show setups, performance calls and meetings on time.

  • Maintain clean, organised and safe technical working areas.

  • Follow all onboard public health, environmental, safety, security and emergency procedures.
