Jobs Kreate is recruiting on behalf of a client for a shipboard Sound Technician position. The successful candidate will set up, operate and maintain professional audio systems for onboard shows, lectures, presentations and special events.
Build your international entertainment career while sailing to exciting destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The actual vessel, itinerary and sailing region will be assigned by the company based on operational requirements.
Important: Cruise ship grading may differ from land-based organisational structures. Candidates may be offered a position one or two ranks below their current land-based role, subject to the cruise line’s assessment and operational requirements.
Open to Malaysian and Singaporean citizens only.
This is a full-time position. Part-time applications will not be considered.
Proven experience in audio electronics, sound playback and live sound mixing.
Basic technical wiring skills are required.
Operational knowledge of Yamaha CL Series and Yamaha LS-9 digital consoles.
Experience with Shure UHFR and ULXD wireless microphone systems.
Strong knowledge of QLab, Dante, DSP networking and patch bay configurations.
Strong understanding of technical wiring and component-level maintenance involving microphones, audio consoles, amplifiers and DSP systems.
Technical theatre qualifications are preferred. Relevant audio electronics training and experience may also be considered.
Able to troubleshoot audio systems and perform basic equipment maintenance.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, scaffolding and theatre catwalks.
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
Strong administrative skills with proficiency in databases, spreadsheets and word-processing systems.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexible, dependable and able to perform effectively under pressure.
Guest-focused and service-oriented with a professional appearance and high personal hygiene standards.
Salary
Salary: USD 2,500
Contract duration: 6 months
Responsibilities
Set up audio equipment for shows, cabarets, lectures, presentations and shipboard events.
Prepare backline equipment and instrument microphones.
Programme the sound console during technical rehearsals.
Check speakers, microphones and related equipment before every performance.
Operate and maintain audio systems while preserving the intended sound design and performance quality.
Set up wireless microphones for performers when required.
Support special events, sound projects and other technical requirements.
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide suitable solutions.
Coordinate clearly with the Cruise Director, Stage Manager and other onboard departments.
Maintain audio equipment, technical areas and related inventory.
Manage equipment scheduling, storage, distribution and maintenance records.
Attend show set-ups, rehearsals, performance calls and technical meetings on time.
Monitor guest feedback and report technical or service concerns to the relevant supervisor.
Follow all onboard public health, environmental, safety, security and emergency procedures.
