Job Description

Requirements

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Tendering Specialist is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and technically compliant tenders for medium and high voltage electrical projects. The role involves reviewing tender documents, preparing technical and commercial proposals, performing cost estimation, coordinating with principals and suppliers, and ensuring timely submission of tender documents.

The Tendering Specialist also supports the Head of Sales by providing technical expertise during the pre-award stage and contributes to the continuous improvement of tendering processes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 2–5 years of experience in tendering, estimation, proposal engineering or project engineering, preferably in MV/HV electrical systems.

  • Experience with transformers, switchgear, or related electrical equipment is an advantage.

Technical & Commercial Skills

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems (MV/LV distribution, transformers, switchgear).

  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, SLD, and BOQs.

  • Good commercial awareness and costing / estimating capability.

  • Knowledge of technical standards and electrical industry practices.

  • Ability to evaluate supplier quotations and prepare competitive cost estimates.

 

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-driven and able to work independently.

  • Good organizational and time management skills.

  • Comfortable interacting with clients and conducting site visits.

Other Requirements

  • Willing to travel for site visits and client meetings.

  • Possess valid driving license (preferred).

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with the Company's Quality Management System (QMS), policies and procedures.

  • Adhere to all applicable health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements.

  • Maintain confidentiality of company and client information.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by Management that are within the scope of the position.

Responsibilities

2.1 Tender Coordination & Technical Support

  • Review client enquiries and tender invitations to determine project requirements.

  • Coordinate with the Head of Sales to understand customer requirements and tender strategy.

  • Attend technical meetings, clarification sessions and site visits where required.

  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals aligned with client specifications.

  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, principals and suppliers on technical matters.

  • Support the Head of Sales during pre-award technical discussions and tender clarifications.

 

2.2 Tendering & Proposal Management

  • Prepare complete tender submissions including technical, commercial, and compliance documentation.

  • Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, and BOQs to ensure full understanding of scope.

  • Coordinate with principals, suppliers, and internal teams for pricing and technical support.

  • Perform cost estimation, pricing analysis, and risk assessment.

  • Ensure submissions are accurate, competitive, and submitted within deadlines.

  • Handle post-tender clarifications and negotiations with clients.

  • Prepare technical compliance schedules and deviation lists where applicable.

  • Evaluate supplier quotations for technical and commercial compliance.

  • Compile complete tender submissions including all supporting documentation.

 

2.3 Site Visits & Technical Engagement

  • Conduct site visits for project understanding, technical clarification, and scope validation.

  • Engage with clients to clarify requirements and propose suitable engineering solutions.

  • Support pre-sales technical discussions and provide engineering input where required.

  • Verify site conditions and identify potential technical or commercial risks affecting the tender.

 

2.4 Process Improvement (Tendering)

  • Develop and standardize tendering templates, checklists, and documentation formats.

  • Improve internal costing methodologies and pricing strategies.

  • Maintain and update a database of past tenders, pricing benchmarks, and lessons learned.

  • Streamline workflows between sales, engineering, and procurement teams.

  • Identify inefficiencies in the sales/tender cycle and propose practical improvements.

  • Support implementation of CRM/ERP tools for better tracking of leads, tenders, and performance.

  • Maintain standard tender templates, technical documentation and historical costing records.
