  • At least 8 years of relevant sales or business-development experience

  • Proven experience managing higher-value or consultative sales

  • Strong track record in generating business and closing deals

  • Previous leadership or sales-management experience

  • Experience in interior design, renovation, construction, fit-out, property, building materials, furniture or a related industry is strongly preferred

  • Corporate working experience is an advantage

  • Existing industry relationships or networks are a strong advantage

  • Comfortable meeting senior decision-makers and business owners

  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation ability

  • Able to manage both personal sales targets and team performance

  • Commercially minded and comfortable discussing pricing, margins and project value

  • Able to work directly with the founder and operate with a high level of responsibility

  • Strong understanding of sales pipelines, forecasting and performance reporting

  • Good command of English

  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin, Cantonese or Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage

  • Possess own transport and be willing to attend client meetings

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Sales & Business Development to work directly with the business owner.

This is not a purely administrative sales-management position.

We need someone who can personally generate business, build relationships, open doors, close important projects and strengthen the performance of the existing sales team.

The ideal candidate may come from interior design, renovation, construction, property, building materials, commercial fit-out, office solutions, furniture, real estate or another related corporate environment.

You should understand relationship-based selling, longer sales cycles, higher-value projects and how to work with decision-makers.

The role will have direct access to the owner and will play an important part in the company’s growth.

Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and develop new residential and commercial business opportunities

  • Build relationships with property owners, corporate clients, developers, architects, consultants, agents and industry partners

  • Use existing networks to introduce relevant opportunities where possible

  • Develop partnership and referral channels

  • Attend networking events, meetings and industry activities

  • Build a structured pipeline of new opportunities

  • Explore opportunities in residential renovation, commercial fit-out, office, retail, wellness, F&B and other relevant sectors

  • Represent the company professionally in external meetings

Sales and Closing

  • Personally handle and close important or high-value opportunities

  • Meet clients, understand their needs and present suitable solutions

  • Work with the design and costing teams to prepare proposals

  • Lead commercial discussions, negotiations and follow-ups

  • Improve proposal, presentation and closing strategies

  • Support the sales team during important client meetings

  • Help recover slow-moving opportunities

  • Ensure leads are followed up properly and within the required timeline

  • Maintain strong relationships throughout the sales process

Sales Team Leadership

  • Lead, support and develop the existing sales team

  • Review individual pipelines, appointments, quotations and closing progress

  • Conduct regular sales meetings and opportunity reviews

  • Coach team members on client communication, pitching and negotiation

  • Establish clear targets and accountability

  • Improve sales discipline, follow-up quality and reporting

  • Identify weaknesses in the sales process and recommend improvements

  • Work closely with management on sales planning and forecasting
