What We Are Looking For

• A degree in science, engineering, computer science, biotechnology, chemistry, physics, or a related technical field.
• Strong interest and ability in patent search, prior art analysis, and technical review.
• Registration as a Malaysian Patent Agent is a strong advantage, but not mandatory. Candidates preparing for or recently through the Patent Agent Examination are encouraged to apply.
• Experience in patent search, drafting, filing, or prosecution will be an advantage.
• Exposure to Madrid filings, trademark prosecution, and foreign associate work will be an added advantage.
• Careful with deadlines, procedure, official forms, and written work.
• Strong written English.
• Able to work independently and comfortable in a fast-paced IP practice.

Key Responsibilities

Patent Work

• Conduct patent, prior art, novelty and patentability searches.
• Review invention disclosures and identify key technical points.
• Support patent drafting, including claims, specifications and filing documents.
• Prepare and file patent, utility innovation and industrial design applications.
• Assist with office actions, examination reports and prosecution deadlines.

Trademark Prosecution

• Prepare and file Malaysian trademark applications.
• Assist with registrability review, office actions and provisional refusals.
• Support Madrid Protocol filings and basic trademark prosecution work.

This role does not cover trademark opposition, appeals, hearings or contentious work. Those matters are handled by the legal team.

Coordination

• Liaise with clients, inventors, MyIPO and foreign associates where required.
• Coordinate documents, filing instructions, deadlines and status updates.
