Job Description

Requirements

Essential

  • SPM (or equivalent) - minimum academic qualification.
  • Strong computer literacy - confident using a desktop computer, mouse, and on-screen tools.
  • Applicants must pass a hands-on computer/precision test as part of selection. This is a key screen, not a formality.
  • Good attention to detail and the patience to do careful, repetitive work consistently.
  • Able to read and follow written guidelines in Malaysian English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Willing and able to work full-time on-site at Menara Landmark, Johor Bahru.
  • Able to attend and pass the in-person onboarding programme (see Selection process).

Employment term

  • Contract 6-month fixed-term, full-time. Renewable based on project workload and individual performance.
  • Standard office hours, Monday–Friday (approx. 8 working hours/day including a lunch break).
  • Probation / confirmation - Continued employment is conditional on passing the calibration assessment during onboarding

Advantageous (not required)

  • Experience with image editing, mapping/GIS tools, gaming, or any task needing fine mouse control.
  • Background or interest in geography, landscaping, horticulture, forestry, or environmental studies.
  • Prior data-entry, quality-control, or detail-oriented office work.

Personal qualities we value

  • Consistency and discipline - doing it the same correct way every time.
  • Honesty about uncertainty (flagging rather than guessing).
  • Comfort sitting and focusing at a screen for extended periods (with regular breaks).

Responsibilities

About the role

Terra10 operates Hyperion, a platform that maps and monitors trees across Malaysian cities for municipal councils. As a Data Entry, you will look at high-resolution satellite images of Johor on our ARBOROS system and carefully mark out every tree you can see by drawing an outline around each tree's canopy.

Your work becomes the official tree record that our government clients rely on. Accuracy and consistency matter far more than speed — a carefully marked tile is worth more to us than a fast, careless one.

This is an entry-level role. No prior experience in annotation, mapping, or trees is required — we provide full in-person training. We are looking for people who are careful, patient, consistent, and comfortable working on a computer for the full working day.

  • Examine assigned satellite image tiles (25m x 25m sections of the city) on the ARBOROS platform.
  • Draw an accurate outline (polygon) around the canopy of every tree visible in each tile.
  • Apply our written guidelines and Visual Reference Atlas to decide what counts as a tree and what does not (e.g. distinguishing real trees from shadows, shrubs, or oil palm).
  • Flag genuinely unclear cases for field checking rather than guessing.
  • Mark tiles correctly as "empty" where there are no trees.
  • Meet a daily tile quota while maintaining the required quality standard.
  • Take part in calibration sessions, refresher training, and team check-ins.

Benefits

  • Annual Leave, Sick Leave and Public Holidays in line with Employment Act 1955
  • 5 Working days
