Job Description & Requirements :
An established company in the automation industry is currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Leader specializing in automation equipment for the optical module industry. This role will be responsible for leading the technical planning, development, integration, and customer facing technical support of overseas automation equipment projects.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in optical module or semiconductor automation equipment development, deep understanding of optical module manufacturing processes, and proven success in leading the development and mass production introduction of core automation equipment. This position will act as a key technical interface with international customers, using English as the primary working language for technical communication, solution presentation, requirement clarification, and project follow-up.
The successful candidate must be open to international assignments(business trip to several countries) and will undergo initial training in China for 3 to 6 months to gain hands-on experience with the company’s automation systems and processes.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Optoelectronics, Microelectronics, Mechatronics, or related engineering fields.
Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience in automation equipment development within the optical module or semiconductor industry.
At least 3 years of experience as a Technical Manager, Project Manager, Team Leader, or equivalent technical leadership role.
Proven experience successfully leading the development of at least one type of core automation equipment and introducing it into mass production.
Experience developing equipment for high-speed optical module manufacturing is required.
Open to frequent international travel for client site visits and system deployments.
Experience working in Thailand or supporting local projects in Thailand is preferred.
Experience managing cross-border R&D projects is preferred.
Experience with international optical module, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing customers is preferred.
Experience leading overseas automation equipment projects from technical proposal through customer acceptance is highly preferred.
Technical & Soft Skills:
Deep understanding of the full optical module manufacturing process and its core requirements for automation equipment design.
Strong knowledge of customized automation equipment, including assembly, testing, inspection, coupling, bonding, and related production equipment.
Strong ability to define equipment architecture, process flow, system requirements, and technical implementation plans.
Strong technical judgment in equipment design, technical selection, risk evaluation, testing validation, and mass production transfer.
Skilled in technical problem analysis, root cause identification, and data-driven optimization.
Proficient in data analysis tools such as Minitab and Excel.
Language Requirements:
Strong English communication ability for international customer meetings, technical presentations, requirement discussions, and written documentation.
Chinese language proficiency is an advantage.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Technology Roadmap & Strategic Planning
Analyze technology development trends in the optical module industry, including CPO, LPO, silicon photonics, and
related advanced technologies.
Develop the company’s medium- and long-term technology roadmap for optical module automation equipment.
Lead preliminary research and introduction of new technologies and new processes.
Evaluate the implementation path and business value of new technologies in automation equipment.
Lead decision-making for key technical challenges and provide high-level technical guidance and support to the team.
Automation Equipment Development
Lead the full-cycle development of customized automation equipment for optical module applications, including testing
equipment, assembly equipment, inspection equipment, and other non-standard automation systems.
Manage the complete development process, including requirement analysis, solution design, technical selection, prototype development, testing validation, and transition to mass production.
Ensure equipment solutions meet customer technical specifications, production efficiency targets, and manufacturing
requirements.
Drive successful development and mass production introduction of core equipment such as die bonders, eutectic
bonding equipment, coupling equipment, and automated testing systems.
Project Planning & Execution
Lead overall planning of R&D projects, including project schedules, resource allocation, and budget planning.
Monitor project progress, cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and project risks.
Coordinate internal technical resources to ensure project milestones are achieved.
Support project delivery from concept development through design, prototype build, validation, mass production
transfer, and customer acceptance.
Technical Problem Solving & Data Analysis
Lead analysis and resolution of complex technical problems related to equipment development and application.
Use data analysis tools such as Minitab, Excel, and other statistical methods to analyze key equipment performance
and development data.
Identify root causes of technical issues and propose practical, data-driven improvement solutions.
Support optimization of equipment performance, development efficiency, stability, and production output.
International Customer Technical Interface
Serve as the core technical interface for international customers.
Use English as the main working language for customer technical communication.
Lead technical requirement discussions, solution presentations, Q&A sessions, and follow-up on customer feedback.
Accurately understand customer requirements and convert them into clear internal R&D requirements.
Build customer confidence through professional technical communication and structured problem-solving.
Customer Site Support & After-Sales Technical Support
Participate in customer site technical meetings, equipment debugging, commissioning guidance, and after-sales
technical support.
Support resolution of customer complaints and technical issues.
Coordinate internal teams to provide timely technical responses and corrective actions.
Maintain strong customer relationships and continuously improve customer satisfaction.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Provide technical leadership to engineering, project, manufacturing, testing, and service teams.
Support team members in solving difficult technical issues.
Promote scientific, rigorous, professional, and collaborative working practices.
Drive continuous improvement of technical standards, design methods, and project execution processes.
