Summary:
Chargeman is responsible to ensure the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of the 33kV electrical distribution system and all associated critical power infrastructure, maintaining maximum availability of the data centre while complying with statutory regulations, electrical safety standards, and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1.High Voltage Operations
- Operate and maintain the 33kV electrical distribution network.
- Perform switching operations in accordance with approved switching procedures and permit-to-work (PTW) requirements.
- Monitor incoming utility supply, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and power quality.
- Coordinate planned shutdowns and emergency restoration activities.
2. Operate and Monitor Critical Power Infrastructure:
- 33kV Switchgear (GIS/AIS)
- Power Transformers
- MV/LV Switchboards
- Generator Systems
- UPS Systems
- Static Transfer Switches (STS)
- Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
- Battery Systems
- Busduct Systems
3. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Execute preventive maintenance according to OEM recommendations.
- Coordinate specialist vendors for annual servicing.
- Review maintenance reports and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Verify maintenance quality before equipment is returned to service.
4. Protection & Safety
- Maintain protection relay coordination.
- Witness relay testing and secondary injection testing.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures.
- Manage LOTO, PTW, and switching schedules.
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
5. Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor alarms through BMS, EMS, DCIM, and SCADA.
- Record operational parameters and electrical load trends.
- Produce daily operational reports.
- Maintain event and maintenance logs.
6. Emergency Response
- Respond to critical electrical alarms 24/7.
- Lead electrical fault isolation and power restoration.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity activities.
- Participate in emergency drills.
7. Ensure compliance with:
- Energy Commission (ST) regulations
- TNB requirements
- Occupational safety regulations
- TIA-942/Uptime operational requirements
- Company SOPs
8. Project Support
- Review M&E designs and method statements.
- Supervise electrical installation works.
- Witness FAT, SAT, testing & commissioning.
- Support energization and load transfer activities.
9. Contractor Management
- Supervise contractors working on live electrical systems.
- Review risk assessments and method statements.
- Ensure safe execution of maintenance and project activities.
- Verify work completion prior to system handover.
Qualifications
- Valid Energy Commission (ST) Chargeman AO/BO/B4 (or appropriate competency for the installation voltage and capacity).
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in critical facilities, data centres, utilities, or industrial plants.
- Experience with 33kV substations and critical power infrastructure.
Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
