Job Description

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

•    Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (Bachelor's minimum)

•    8 to 15 years of construction project experience, with at least 3 to 5 years in a Project Manager role carrying full delivery accountability

•    Demonstrated track record of delivering industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects from mobilisation to practical completion and close-out

•    Experience managing multi-discipline projects (CSA + M&E) and coordinating multiple subcontractors simultaneously

•    Background in industrial construction — manufacturing plants, logistics hubs, chemical or energy facilities — is strongly preferred

Technical & Commercial Skills

•    Strong working knowledge of construction contract administration — progress claims, variation orders, EOT management, and correspondence discipline

•    Able to read, interrogate, and drive a CPM construction programme (Primavera P6 or MS Project)

•    Commercially literate — understands project cost structure, committed versus actual cost, and margin management

•    Familiar with QA/QC systems, DOSH requirements, and construction safety management on industrial sites

•    Experience with client-facing project meetings, progress reporting, and consultant coordination at a senior level

Leadership & Soft Skills

•    Decisive, accountable, and outcomes-focused — you define the standard and hold the team to it

•    Proactive communicator — raises issues early with proposed solutions, not just problem statements

•    Commercially and contractually aware — understands risk, entitlement, and the difference between the two

•    Able to manage client expectations professionally through difficult phases without damaging the relationship

•    Willing to be based on active project sites notionwide

Responsibilities

As Project Manager at PPE, you are the single point of accountability for your project — from mobilisation through to commercial close-out. You own the programme, lead the team, manage the client, and are responsible for delivering on time, within budget, and to the contracted scope and quality standard.

Programme Leadership & Schedule Ownership

•    Develop the master programme with the Scheduler at project start — based on the actual construction method, resource plan, and procurement schedule

•    Own the programme and ensure every member of the site team — engineers, supervisors, subcontractors — is aligned to the same current plan at all times

•    Chair the weekly site coordination meeting: review the look-ahead, assess progress, resolve coordination conflicts, and hold the team to their commitments

•    Lead recovery planning when the programme is at risk — identify the cause, evaluate options, decide on the approach, and drive execution

Site Team Direction & Accountability

•    Set clear expectations for engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors on scope, work standard, and accountability — and hold them to it

•    Walk the site daily to observe progress, assess team performance, and maintain a direct understanding of what is happening on the ground

•    Resolve performance gaps in the team early — through coaching, escalation, or resource changes — before they affect delivery

•    Coordinate CSA and M&E trade sequences to prevent clashes, access conflicts, and rework; resolve inter-discipline issues that cannot be resolved at engineer level

Contract Administration & Commercial Management

•    Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the project contract — scope, programme obligations, payment terms, variation rights, and dispute mechanisms

•    Ensure all contractual entitlements — progress claims, variation orders, extension of time notices — are prepared, submitted, and tracked on time

•    Coordinate with the QS team on cost reporting, subcontractor payment claims, and final account settlement

•    Identify contractual risks and scope ambiguities early and escalate to the Head of Projects before they become disputes

Cost Control & Forecasting

•    Maintain an accurate picture of cost performance at all times — budgeted versus committed versus actual — and report it honestly to the Head of Projects/ Managing Director.

•    Meet with the QS team weekly to review the project cost report and agree corrective actions where required

•    Identify and act on cost reduction opportunities through better sequencing, material management, and subcontractor coordination — without compromising quality or safety

•    Flag any cost exposure — unpriced scope, unapproved variations, procurement overruns — before it is committed

Client & Stakeholder Management

•    Lead all client and consultant progress meetings on site — present programme status, raise issues requiring decisions, and follow up on open action items

•    Ensure the client always has an accurate, honest picture of progress, risks, and issues — proactive communication builds trust and reduces disputes

•    Coordinate authority inspections and approval processes — ensure the site is ready, documentation is in order, and inspectors are properly accompanied

•    Respond to client correspondence promptly and professionally, keeping the Head of Projects copied on all significant communications

Project Handover & Close-Out

•    Lead the defects identification and rectification process in the final project phase — assign responsibility and track each defect to closure

•    Ensure all handover documentation — as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, test reports, authority approvals — is compiled and submitted in full

Drive the final account process with the QS team and client to reach an agreed settlement without unnecessary delay
