Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Entry-level friendly, though 6 months to 1 year of experience in a fast-casual restaurant, cafe, or hotel kitchen is highly preferred.

  • Certifications:A validFood Handler's Certificate (compulsory in most regions to comply with local health regulations).

  • Speed & Stamina: Ability to work quickly under pressure during peak dining hours (lunch and dinner rushes).

  • Teamwork: Strong communication skills to coordinate with line cooks and front-of-house service staff seamlessly.

Responsibilities

Core Requirements & Responsibilities

1. Food Preparation (Prep Cook Duties)

  • Mise en Place: Washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients (vegetables, meats, sauces) before service starts.

  • Station Setup: Ensuring cooking lines are fully stocked with the necessary utensils, pans, and prepared food items.

  • Basic Cooking: Assisting with simple cooking tasks like deep-frying, boiling pasta, or grilling components under supervision.

2. Kitchen Cleanliness & Sanitation

  • Dishwashing: Operating the commercial dishwasher and hand-washing pots, pans, and delicate kitchen tools.

  • Waste Management: Emptying trash cans, clearing food waste, and ensuring recycling is handled correctly.

  • Deep Cleaning: Sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing prep counters, cutting boards, and cooking stations throughout and at the end of the shift.

3. Food Safety & Compliance

  • Storage:Storing food items according to theFIFO (First In, First Out) method to ensure freshness and reduce waste.

  • Temperature Logs: Monitoring and recording fridge and freezer temperatures if required.

  • Hygiene Standards: Maintaining strict personal hygiene, including wearing hairnets/caps, clean aprons, and non-slip kitchen shoes.
