Job Description

Requirements

  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff in daily food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by regularly cleaning work surfaces, equipment, and utensils according to established hygiene standards.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control, to prevent contamination and ensure food quality.
  • Support the kitchen team by performing basic food preparation duties, such as preparing simple salads, sauces, or garnishes under supervision.
  • Demonstrate basic knife skills for safe and efficient food preparation, with a willingness to learn and improve techniques.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment, ensuring they are clean and ready for use.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food supplies, ensuring proper rotation and inventory management.
  • Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff and chefs accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively in English and Mandarin with kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new tasks within the kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist chefs and cooks in basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, chopping, and dicing ingredients according to established recipes and standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by regularly cleaning work surfaces, equipment, utensils, and floors, adhering to strict hygiene and sanitation protocols.
  • Support the kitchen team in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies, ensuring proper temperature control and FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles are followed.
  • Prepare and portion ingredients for daily service, ensuring accuracy and consistency to support the efficient workflow of the kitchen.
  • Dispose of waste and recycling properly, maintaining a tidy and safe working area to prevent hazards and cross-contamination.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using dishwashing machines or by hand, ensuring they are clean and ready for reuse.
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines meticulously, including proper handwashing, use of gloves, and preventing cross-contamination to ensure food quality and safety.
  • Learn and apply basic knife skills under supervision, contributing to the efficient preparation of ingredients.
  • Assist with inventory checks and stocktaking as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Help maintain the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the pantry and storage areas.
