- Optimize and improve polymer compounding processes to achieve consistent quality, productivity, and process efficiency.
- Lead the setup, troubleshooting, and optimization of twin-screw extrusion processes across various polymer materials and formulations.
- Support the scale-up of new formulations from laboratory or pilot scale to full-scale commercial production.
- Establish and maintain processing parameters and guidelines to ensure consistent and repeatable production.
- Troubleshoot extrusion-related issues, including surging, surface defects, inconsistent dispersion, and colour variation.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to maintain equipment reliability and production uptime, including feeder calibration, screw configuration, and die maintenance.
- Monitor and document critical process parameters such as temperature profiles, screw speed, torque, pressure, and throughput.
- Analyse production and testing data to identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams to ensure successful implementation of new materials and processes.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and develop process knowledge for repeat production and future scale-up activities.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in polymer compounding, preferably with twin-screw extrusion technology.
- Strong knowledge of polymer processing, rheology, additive incorporation, and pigment/colour dispersion.
- Experience in troubleshooting extrusion processes and optimizing processing conditions.
- Ability to interpret physical, chemical, and process testing data to identify root causes and drive process improvements.
- Good understanding of extrusion equipment, including feeders, screws, dies, and associated process controls.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
