A Turnaround Project Engineer for rotating equipment in the Bintulu oil and gas sector coordinates the overhaul, maintenance, and project execution of critical assets like compressors and pumps during plant shutdowns.

Job Description

• Role Purpose: Manage and execute mechanical rotating equipment scopes (pumps, turbines, compressors, gearboxes) during plant Turnarounds (TA) or shutdowns safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Planning Phase: Develop detailed work breakdown structures, schedules, and resource allocation plans for overhauls. Coordinate material, spare parts, and specialized tooling procurement.
• Execution Phase: Supervise onsite contractor execution during the shutdown window. Monitor daily progress against baseline schedules and troubleshoot emerging mechanical issues.
• Quality & Safety: Enforce strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols during high-intensity site work.
• Commissioning: Oversee equipment box-up, pre-commissioning, and safe startup handovers to operations.

Key Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience: 3 to 6+ years of total engineering experience, with specific hands-on involvement in oil, gas, refinery, or petrochemical plant maintenance/turnarounds.
• Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with rotating machinery mechanics, alignment, seal systems, and diagnostic troubleshooting.
• Soft Skills: Strong contractor management, multidisciplinary communication, and crisis-management capabilities under tight schedules
