About the Role

CPI (Penang) Sdn Bhd is seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer (Robotic Spray) to support and enhance our automated spray coating operations. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust manufacturing processes that consistently meet quality, productivity, safety, and customer requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and NPI teams to drive process stability, improve yield, troubleshoot technical challenges, and support new product introductions.

Key ResponsibilitiesRobotic Spray Process Management
  • Program, optimize, and troubleshoot ABB robotic spray systems to ensure consistent and reliable operation.
  • Develop and refine spray process parameters to achieve quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
  • Support equipment commissioning, qualification, validation, and process improvements.
  • Monitor robot performance and implement enhancements to improve process repeatability and efficiency.
Process Engineering & Production Support
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure stable and repeatable operation.
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to production teams in resolving process-related issues.
  • Manage and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECN) effectively.
  • Investigate and resolve production disruptions to minimize downtime and quality risks.
Chemical Process Control
  • Monitor and control chemical process parameters to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Ensure proper chemical handling practices and compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Support process audits and compliance activities.
Continuous Improvement & Data Analysis
  • Analyze production and process data to identify variation, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize statistical tools such as SPC, Cp/Cpk, and trend analysis to evaluate process capability.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to improve yield, reduce defects, minimize variation, and increase productivity.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma activities.
Quality & Problem Solving
  • Collaborate with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Supplier teams to resolve product and process issues.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Support customer complaint investigations and process improvement activities.
  • Sustain process controls to ensure long-term effectiveness of implemented solutions.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Support new product and process introductions from development through production ramp-up.
  • Participate in process validation, capability studies, trials, and qualification activities.
  • Ensure manufacturing readiness for new products and technologies.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Develop, maintain, and improve SOPs, work instructions, process specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and performance updates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality systems, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
RequirementsEducation
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
Experience
  • Fresh graduates with strong technical aptitude are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, automation, robotics, coating processes, or chemical processing are preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and process engineering principles.
  • Understanding of process control, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with industrial robots, automation systems, or robotic programming is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with ABB robots, RobotStudio, or spray coating systems will be highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, RCA, CAPA, FMEA, DOE, and process validation techniques.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering reporting tools.
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and willing to spend time on the production floor.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in coating, painting, spray, plating, surface treatment, or chemical-related manufacturing processes.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience supporting automated production lines and process automation initiatives.
