Senior Software Developer (TypeScript / Node.js/ React)

Fill’d is an Australian aged care platform connecting caregivers and clients to deliver more efficient home care. We are looking for a TypeScript Developer to join our engineering team, contributing to backend (Hono) or frontend (React) development. You will work primarily with TypeScript, building performant and maintainable server-side systems that support Fill’d’s platform.

Core Responsibilities

•       Feature Development: Design, build, and maintain end-to-end features across frontend and backend layers.

•       System Design: Contribute and be responsible for the design of scalable, maintainable, and modular systems, including reusable components and shared frameworks.

•       Technical Documentation: Produce and maintain technical artefacts such as API specifications, data models (ERDs), and system/data flow diagrams.

•       Code Quality & Review: Write clean and well-tested code. Conduct code reviews to uphold engineering standards and share knowledge across the team.

•       Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Analyse and enhance existing codebases to identify issues, optimise performance, and implement fixes.

•       Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, QA, and DevOps) in an agile delivery environment.

Required Skills

•      Experience: At least 4 years’ experience in a software engineering role

•       Application Development: Strong proficiency in TypeScript, with experience in backend development using lightweight Node.js frameworks (e.g. Hono) and/or frontend development (React). Strong foundation in software engineering principles required. Full-stack experience is a plus but not essential.

•       Version Control & CI/CD: Experience with Git-based workflows and modern CI/CD practices.

•       Data Management: Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, as well as familiarity with NoSQL databases.

•       Testing Practices: Experience with unit and integration testing to ensure code quality and reliability.

•       Self-Driven: Able to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

•       System Design Experience: Exposure to designing scalable and maintainable systems and contributing to technical solutioning for enterprise applications.

•       Cloud & Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, EKS/ECS) and cloud-native principles, including containerisation with Docker.

•       Messaging & Integration: Experience working with message brokers such as RabbitMQ for asynchronous processing and system integration.

•       Third-Party Integrations: Experience integrating with third-party services such as e-signature platforms, payment gateways, or identity/verification services.

•       Experience with geolocation or mapping integrations.

•       Knowledge of caching technologies and strategies (e.g., Redis).
