I’m working with a newly established quantitative trading firm in Singapore to appoint its first dedicated technology hire.

The role:

• A hands-on systems engineer who can combine Linux, Python, cloud compute, storage and research support while becoming the long-term owner of the firm’s technical platform.
• This engineer will own and develop the technology platform supporting the firm’s research and trading activities.

Requirement

• Solid production experience with AWS Spot Instances or equivalent preemptible compute.
• Strong Linux systems engineering experience.
• Solid Python and shell scripting skills.
• Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform.
• Exposure to HPC, cluster computing or workload schedulers such as Slurm, LSF or PBS.
• Understanding of networking, storage, security and infrastructure performance.
• Experience with Terraform or CDK and dependable CI/CD practices.
• Intellectual curiosity, sound technical judgement and an interest in growing with an early-stage firm.
• Direct experience supporting quantitative researchers, scientists or other research-intensive users.

Financial-services experience is not required. This opportunity suits a well-rounded engineer who wants substantial ownership, direct exposure to exceptional researchers and the opportunity to grow into a broader technology leadership position.
