We are seeking an experienced Data Project Manager to lead the delivery of strategic data governance and regulatory transformation initiatives within the banking and financial services sector. The successful candidate will drive project mobilization, stakeholder alignment, business analysis, and end-to-end delivery while ensuring compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic project management and execution capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of Data Governance, Data Sovereignty, Data Risk Assessment (DRA), and regulatory transformation initiatives.
• Drive project mobilization, scope definition, project planning, and requirements baselining.
• Engage and manage senior stakeholders across Business, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Data Management, and Technology functions.
• Facilitate workshops to gather business requirements and align stakeholders.
• Perform business analysis and document functional and business requirements.
• Produce project artefacts including project plans, RAID logs, status reports, governance packs, and requirements documentation.
• Translate legal and regulatory obligations into operational processes and technology requirements.
• Manage external legal counsel and coordinate cross-functional project activities.
• Support corridor-based transfer risk assessments and cross-border data transfer governance initiatives.
• Implement and monitor data sovereignty controls in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Balance strategic project leadership with hands-on execution as a player-coach.
• Identify project risks, dependencies, and issues, and proactively drive resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of project management experience.
• Proven experience delivering Data Governance, Data Sovereignty, DRA, or regulatory transformation programmes.
• Strong experience leading project mobilization, planning, and stakeholder management.
• Hands-on business analysis experience, including requirements gathering and workshop facilitation.
• Experience documenting business requirements and producing delivery artefacts.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and legal requirements relating to data governance.
• Experience managing external vendors or legal counsel.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Banking or Financial Services industry experience.
• Experience delivering enterprise-wide regulatory transformation programmes.
• Familiarity with regional or global data privacy regulations.
• PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent Project Management certification is advantageous.
