Job Title: Assistant Manager / Manager – Software Development

Brief Job Summary

The Assistant Manager / Manager – Software Development is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise software solutions while managing project delivery and technical teams. The role oversees the end-to-end software development lifecycle, ensuring solutions meet business objectives, quality standards, and client expectations. The incumbent works closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and technology partners to drive innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced Agile and DevOps environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including solution design, development, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
  • Manage and mentor a team of software developers, providing technical guidance, performance coaching, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, clients, and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of microservices-based applications and enterprise web solutions for the financial services industry.
  • Drive the delivery of new products, enhancements, and system improvements while ensuring timely and high-quality releases.
  • Review and approve technical designs, system architecture, and technical specifications to ensure alignment with business and technology standards.
  • Ensure adherence to software development best practices, coding standards, security requirements, and governance policies.
  • Champion Agile and DevOps practices, fostering continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), automation, and collaboration across development teams.
  • Manage project planning, resource allocation, delivery schedules, project risks, issues, scope changes, and budget considerations where applicable.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to management and stakeholders, highlighting risks, mitigation plans, and project milestones.
  • Support production systems by overseeing incident resolution, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Drive operational excellence through process optimization, system modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project delivery.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in software development, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership, team lead, or management capacity.
  • Experience in the Digital/Core Banking or Financial Services is a MUST
  • Strong technical expertise in:
  • Microservices architecture, Spring Boot, API Gateway, and distributed streaming platforms.
  • Java/J2EE, C#, or C++ application development.
  • Unix/Linux shell scripting.
  • Relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, or OpenShift is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, CI/CD pipelines, and software engineering best practices.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management, project delivery, vendor coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Professional certifications such as Scrum Master, PMP, ITIL, AWS, Azure, or relevant technical certifications would be an added advantage.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • core banking : 2 years (Preferred)
  • Software Development: 5 years (Preferred)
