WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

The Quality Inspector uses state-of-the-art tools and techniques to ensure that product conforms to applicable manufacturer’s specifications and our customers’ requirements. This position focuses on objective and instrumented tests that generate data for evaluation.

Core Responsibilities and Functions:

• Perform quality inspection on electronic components and related products
• Use advanced equipment and inspection methodology to confirm whether product meets customer requirements
• Record inspection results and evidence in Velocity’s ERP
• Take and prepare photo documentation
• Coordinate with the Quality Managers to ensure that all requested tests are performed
• Communicate and explain inspection findings to the Quality Managers and, occasionally, the Sales, Purchasing and Logistics.

Required skills & experience:

• Understanding of basic math, including percentages and tolerances
• Familiar with complex ERP systems

Preferred skills & experience:

• ITE or diploma in electronics engineering or equivalent
• Experience handling electronic components and/or inspection/quality assurance
• Familiar with complex ERP systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
• Basic photography and photo editing

Work Environment

This position works in Velocity’s Inspection and Distribution Center, a hybrid laboratory/warehouse environment. Most work is performed in an Electrostatic Protected Area (EPA).

• Personnel must wear protective smocks and grounding footwear inside the EPA
• Traffic through the IDC includes electric lift trucks
• Some inspections include: X-ray equipmentHot surfacesSolvents
• Some products contain small amounts of toxic materials (e.g. lead-based solder)

• Manual dexterity: manipulation of very small items
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
