On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead and scale high-performing engineering teams. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of complex, cloud-native software solutions, manage multi-stream technical governance, and maintain alignment across cross-functional stakeholders.
The ideal candidate brings a strong balance of people-first technical leadership, systems engineering discipline, robust cybersecurity awareness, and hands-on financial and work package management experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Technical Direction
- Lead, mentor, and empower a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with customer expectations.
- Provide clear technical guidance, architectural direction, and workflow management, including task prioritization and resource allocation to achieve project milestones.
- Conduct formal design and architectural reviews of cloud-native and cloud-orchestrated software solutions.
- Establish continuous learning initiatives, upskill engineering staff, and promote knowledge sharing through detailed, reusable documentation.
- Oversee team performance, professional development, and goal tracking across reporting delivery roles.
2. Project & Process Management
- Drive the end-to-end execution and timely release of software deliverables across multiple project streams.
- Facilitate and lead technical design reviews, workshops, peer reviews, and milestone evaluations.
- Establish and continuously improve standardized software engineering processes, practices, and delivery tooling.
- Collaborate with discipline leads to tailor engineering frameworks to specific project requirements.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Act as the primary technical bridge between engineering teams, Project Managers, Product Owners, Technical Design Authorities, and executive stakeholders.
- Manage customer and stakeholder expectations, conducting requirements analysis to negotiate and implement mutually beneficial ("win-win") solutions.
- Manage customer scope strictly in line with approved baselines, budgets, and schedules.
4. Risk, Quality & Financial Governance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and operational risks, tracking residual risks and cost savings.
- Establish and monitor engineering metrics to track progress, measure team performance, and resolve delivery blockers proactively.
- Prepare and lead regular Technical and Financial Reviews (TFR) and oversee Work Package control processes.
- Manage project budgets, resource costs, and financial tracking using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
5. Commercial & Bid Support
- Support business development and bid activities by preparing and reviewing accurate engineering cost estimates for proposed system modifications and baseline changes.
