Data Centre Network Engineer

Location: Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Employment Type: 12-Month Renewable Contract, 5-day work week, 9am to 6pm

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Data Centre Network Engineer to support enterprise network infrastructure within a mission-critical data centre environment.

The ideal candidate should possess strong networking fundamentals, practical troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting enterprise routing, switching and security infrastructure. Candidates from enterprise IT, system integrators, telecom, managed services, NOC or data centre environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, support and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls and wireless networks.
• Perform Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting involving VLANs, trunking, routing, IP addressing, subnetting and gateway connectivity.
• Support network changes, firmware upgrades, hardware replacement, migrations and maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot network incidents involving STP, EtherChannel/LAG, routing, switching and connectivity issues.
• Support firewall administration, including security policies, NAT, VPN and access control where applicable.
• Perform fibre patching, structured cabling, SFP replacement and network hardware installation within the data centre.
• Participate in incident response, preventive maintenance and change management activities.
• Prepare and maintain network documentation, topology diagrams and technical reports.
• Work closely with customers, vendors and project teams to ensure high availability of critical infrastructure.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking, NOC, infrastructure support or data centre operations.
• Good understanding of:
• TCP/IP
• IP Addressing & Subnetting
• VLANs
• Layer 2 & Layer 3 Switching
• Routing
• STP / RSTP
• EtherChannel / Link Aggregation
• DNS / DHCP
• Network Troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience supporting enterprise network equipment from one or more of the following vendors:
• Cisco
• Huawei
• Aruba / HPE
• Juniper
• Dell
• H3C
• Brocade
• Extreme Networks
• or other enterprise networking platforms
• Experience supporting enterprise firewalls such as:
• Cisco Firepower
• Fortinet
• Palo Alto
• Check Point
• or equivalent
• Comfortable working within a production data centre environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNA, HCIA, JNCIA, Aruba, NSE, PCNSA, CCSA or equivalent networking certification.
• Experience with enterprise data centres, managed services, hyperscale facilities or system integrators.
• Exposure to VMware, Nutanix, Windows Server or Linux is an advantage.
