About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on & experienced Mechatronics & Embedded Robotics Software Engineer Intern to join our robotics team in Singapore to help build the next generation of autonomous robots.

This is a deep engineering internship. You will work directly with senior engineers on robot hardware integration, drive-by-wire conversion, mechanical design, electronics integration, and system testing.

You will gain experience developing real autonomous robotic systems, working across mechanical engineering, electrical systems, and robotics hardware integration.

This role is ideal for final-year Mechanical / Mechatronics / EEE students who enjoy building real machines and want to pursue a career in robotics hardware or autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the drive-by-wire conversion of industrial machines into autonomous robotic platforms
  • Design and modify mechanical components using CAD/CAM Software such as Solid Edge (3D modelling and assemblies)
  • Assist in integrating actuators, motors, sensors, and control electronics
  • Work on electrical wiring, connectors, and hardware interfaces for robotic systems
  • Build and assemble mechanical and electrical subsystems on real robots
  • Support hardware debugging, troubleshooting, and system validation
  • Work with robotics engineers to integrate sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, GPS, IMU, and encoders
  • Help prototype and fabricate components using manual machining, laser cutting, 3D printing or rapid prototyping
  • Document designs, assemblies, and test procedures
  • Participate in field testing and real-world robot experiments

Requirements

Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
    - Mechanical Engineering
    - Mechatronics Engineering
    - Electrical Engineering
    - Robotics Engineering
    - or related disciplines

Final year students are strongly encouraged to apply.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with CAD/CAM Software (3D modelling, assemblies, 2D drawings)
  • Basic understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) for CNC, sheet metal or 3D Printing
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and machine components
  • Familiarity with electrical and electronic systems
  • Experience working with motors, actuators, sensors, or embedded systems
  • Comfortable working with tools, hardware assembly, and prototyping
  • Basic understanding of control systems or robotics systems is a plus
  • Ability to read industrial wiring schematics is a plus
  • Familiarity with CAN bus, microcontrollers, or embedded electronics is beneficial

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Hands-on robotics projects or competitions
  • Experience with drive-by-wire systems
  • Experience with motor controllers, steering systems, or vehicle electronics
  • Embedded systems (Arduino, STM32, ESP32, etc.)
  • Rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printing
  • Basic programming (Python, C++, or microcontroller programming)

What You Will Gain

  • Hands-on experience building real autonomous robots
  • Exposure to robotics hardware integration and system engineering
  • Experience working on drive-by-wire vehicle conversion
  • Opportunity to work closely with experienced robotics engineers
  • Potential opportunity for full-time employment after the internship
