As a Content Development Editor at Alston Education, you'll be at the heart of building world-class K-12 learning materials that reach classrooms across the globe. What You'll Own

From concept to printed page (and beyond), you'll drive the full lifecycle of educational content:

On the content side:

→ Dig into curriculum frameworks from around the world — spot the gaps, fill them, and shape content that actually works in real classrooms

→ Develop textbooks, workbooks, teacher's guides, and digital resources that areage-appropriate, culturally sharp, and pedagogically sound

→ Collaborate with authors to bring their manuscripts to life — giving feedback that'sdirect, constructive, and moves things forward

→ Partner with the design team to make learning visual, engaging, and beautiful

→ Suggest resources and activities that go beyond the brief and genuinely elevate learning outcomes

On the project side:

→ Balance client curriculum requirements against international education benchmarks —you'll make the call

→ Keep projects on track across multiple stakeholders, timelines, and moving parts

→ Work with marketing and sales teams to position each series for success in the market

→ Handle permissions, budgets, contracts, and reprint coordination — no detail too small

→ Review digital products and liaise with developers to ensure quality across all formats

Day-to-Day Fundamentals

→ Write and edit with precision — grammar, spelling, punctuation, layout checks before anything goes to print

→ Make editorial decisions quickly and clearly — no second-guessing, no ambiguity

→ Develop and review assessments, practice papers, and supplementary materials

→ Pick up InDesign basics within your first year for hands-on final-phase edits

→ Research and secure rights for copyrighted images and materials

If You're Gunning for Senior

Senior CDEs are the backbone of our editorial team — they lead, mentor, and set the bar. On top of everything above, you'll:

→ Mentor junior editors and build team capability through hands-on guidance

→ Own editorial strategy across multiple projects simultaneously

→ Evaluate manuscripts and writing samples from freelancers and new hires

→ Monitor the performance of external editors, designers, and developers

→ Anticipate delays before they become problems — and fix them before anyone else notices

Who You Are
