FINEXUS develops mission-critical payment and switching platforms that support Malaysia’s financial ecosystem, including card processing, ATMs and EDCs.

As a Software Engineer II, you contribute directly to the development, testing, and maintenance the SWITCH platform. Your work ensures reliable, high-performance, and secure transaction processing that underpins FINEXUS’ products and client services.


About the Role

The Software Engineer II is responsible for developing and maintaining SWITCH modules and integrating systems with card schemes, ATM, and EDC.

This role requires strong proficiency in C programming, TCP/IP socket programming, and ISO 8583 standards. You will work closely with team members to develop, test, optimize, and maintain software components while ensuring code quality and system stability.


Mission / Expected Outcomes

  • Design, develop and maintain high-performance SWITCH modules.
  • Ensure software reliability, security, and scalability for card and ATM/EDC transaction processing
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and optimization of existing systems
  • Support seamless integration with internal systems, card schemes, and ATM/EDC
  • Collaborate effectively with the team to deliver quality code on schedule.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of code and development activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, debug, and optimize C code for SWITCH modules.
  • Contribute to unit testing and integration testing efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members on design, development, and troubleshooting.
  • Document code, processes, and development activities clearly.
  • Keep up-to-date with C programming trends and emerging technologies.
  • Adapt to additional programming languages (e.g. Shell scripting, Java) as required.
  • Use version control and project management tools such as Bitbucket and Atlassian JIRA.
  • Support code automation and testing initiatives where applicable.


Technical Scope

  • Backend: C, C++
  • Databases: Oracle, MariaDB, or equivalent
  • Messaging Queues: IBM MQ, ActiveMQ
  • Containerization (optional): Docker
  • CI/CD & Release Practices: Experience releasing software in CI/CD pipelines


Key Requirements


Academic Qualification

  • Degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Focus on software development, programming, or system design subjects.


Professional / Regulatory Requirements

  • Minimum CGPA 3.0.
  • Programming subjects must have grade A / 3.0 and above.
  • Mathematics: SPM grade A; Additional Mathematics grade B and above.


Experience

  • 1 - 3 years of hands-on experience in software development.
  • Strong experience in C programming, ISO 8583, TCP/IP socket programming, and SWITCH development.
  • Familiarity with version control (Bitbucket), project tracking (Atlassian JIRA), unit testing, and automation.

  • Understanding of financial transaction processing and ATM/EDC integration.
