THE ROLE
- The position is responsible for supporting the University’s branding, corporate communications, media relations, public relations, digital communications, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- The role contributes to the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives by developing and executing effective communication strategies that enhance the University’s reputation, visibility, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- The position also supports the planning and execution of university marketing events and initiatives that generate positive external impact and strengthened the UCSI University Sarawak campus brand.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate Communications
- Develop and lead corporate communication planning in alignment with the overall communication strategy.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of marketing communication campaigns across multiple channels, including print and digital, in support of the University’s initiatives and activities.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the continuous improvement of corporate communication strategies, materials and services.
- Create and manage content for print and digital channels, including press releases, articles, social media content, and marketing collateral.
- Participate in the ongoing development of corporate communication function at Sarawak campus, contributing to university-wide communication initiatives where required.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication campaigns and recommend for improvements to enhance engagement and outreach.
Services & Administrative Management
- Ensure departmental operations comply with the University’s policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), branding requirements, and communication guidelines.
- Protect and enhance the University’s corporate image and reputation.
- Prepare reports on communication activities, media coverage, and campaign effectiveness.
- Monitor communication trends and recommend innovative communication strategies.
Content Development & Digital Communications
- Contribute to the development, implementation and promotion tools, systems, policies and communication channels that support effective corporate communications.
- Create engaging and SEO-optimized content for the University’s landing page, social media platforms, publications, and marketing materials.
- Ensure consistency of brand messaging across all communication channels.
- Coordinate photography, videography, graphic design, and multimedia content production.
- Manage and update corporate communication materials, brochures, and marketing promotional collateral.
- Maintain communication records, conduct data analysis and assist in the preparation of reports and performance metrics as required.
Event & Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist in planning, coordinating and executing University marketing and corporate events, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines, internal policies, and agreed standards.
- Act as liaison between university and vendors, collaborating with internal stakeholders and service providers to ensure the successful delivery of university events and activities that support the institution’s strategic objectives.
- Monitor event budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure effective executions.
- Provide general administrative and operational support for the Marketing & Recruitment team and other departments as required.
EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS & QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Corporate Communication, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in communication, digital marketing, or public relations will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in SEO, corporate communications, public relations, media relations, or digital marketing.
- Proven experience in content writing, media engagement, and event management.
- Experience in higher education sector will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated information management skills, supported by competent use of relevant software applications and digital tools.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong creative content development, copywriting, and storytelling abilities.
- Knowledge of social media management, digital communications, and digital marketing platforms.
- Proficiency in graphic design and editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator). Skills in photography, videography, and multimedia content production will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles and best practices is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of communication practices and stakeholder engagement within the higher education sector.
- Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities. With a demonstrated capacity to develop and implement innovative solutions to work-related challenges.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Strong networking, partnership development, and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant communication and content management tools.
- Possess own transportation.
