JOB DESCRIPTION – TOWER CRANE TECHNICIAN

Position: Tower Crane Technician
Department: Technical / Maintenance
Reports To: Technical Manager / Project Manager
Location: Project Sites / Workshop

Job Summary

Responsible for installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, climbing, and dismantling of tower cranes. Ensure all work is carried out safely according to manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and site safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out tower crane erection, installation, climbing, commissioning, and dismantling.
* Perform preventive maintenance, inspection, servicing, and repair of tower cranes.
* Inspect mast sections, jib, slewing unit, wire ropes, trolley system, bolts, pins, motors, brakes, gearboxes, electrical panels, limit switches, and safety devices.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control system faults.
* Attend breakdowns and restore cranes to safe operating condition.
* Identify defects, worn components, and unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
* Ensure all safety devices are functioning correctly.
* Follow PPE, working-at-height, Permit to Work, LOTO, and site safety procedures.
* Complete maintenance, inspection, repair, and breakdown reports.
* Record defects, corrective actions, and spare parts replaced.
* Coordinate with supervisors, crane operators, contractors, safety personnel, and project teams.
* Provide technical support and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
* Perform other technical duties assigned by management.

Requirements

* Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
* Experience with tower cranes, lifting equipment, or heavy machinery preferred.
* Knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
* Able to read technical drawings and electrical diagrams.
* Able to work at height and construction sites.
* Physically fit for hands-on technical work.
* Willing to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and emergency breakdowns when required.
* Relevant safety or competency certificates are an advantage.
