Our client is a global multinational technology company specialising in photonics, precision optics, and advanced manufacturing solutions. They are seeking an experienced Assembly Process Engineer to lead the development and transfer of fiber optic manufacturing processes, supporting new product introduction (NPI) and process optimisation in a high-precision cleanroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and optimise manufacturing processes for fiber optic termination, polishing, and precision assembly.
- Lead process transfer activities and support the transition of manufacturing operations from the UK to Singapore.
- Design and implement cleanroom assembly processes to achieve high product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) activities.
- Drive continuous process improvements using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Conduct process validation, risk assessments (FMEA), and tooling development.
- Analyse production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions using SPC, DOE, and 8D methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones, quality, and delivery objectives are achieved.
- Support supplier qualification, production readiness, and process handover activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards within the manufacturing environment.
- Train and mentor technicians and production personnel on manufacturing processes and best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience, preferably in the optics, fiber optics, semiconductor, laser, or precision manufacturing industry.
- Strong hands-on experience in process development, NPI, and manufacturing process transfer.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma tools such as DOE, SPC, FMEA, and 8D.
- Knowledge of optical fiber assembly, laser systems, or contamination control will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with ISO quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9100) is preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or SAP will be an advantage.
