About the Team:

As a Fullstack Engineer within Enterprise Engineering, you will be part of a team building internal and enterprise-facing software tools that serve the bank's internal staff, partners, and clients. You will work alongside engineers, architects, and product builders in a collaborative environment where your contributions make a direct impact on the people and businesses that rely on our platform every day.

About the Role:

• Independently designing and delivering end-to-end fullstack features within the Enterprise Engineering function of our digital banking programme.
• Contributing to engineering quality, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement across frontend and backend systems.

What You'll Do:

Frontend Development:

• Design and deliver React, Vue features independently using TypeScript, including state management (Redux / Context API), routing, and responsive UI implementation.
• Build reusable, well-tested React components aligned to the digital banking platform's design system and accessibility standards.
• Optimise frontend performance and ensure cross-browser compatibility across web and mobile banking interfaces.

Backend Development:

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using NestJS (TypeScript) and/or Spring Boot (Java).
• Implement service-layer business logic, input validation, error handling, and authentication / authorisation flows.
• Design and manage data models using TypeORM or Hibernate, including writing and managing database migrations.

AI Coding Tools:

• Leverage AI coding tools (e.g. ILMU, Claude, GitHub Copilot) for feature development, unit test generation, and code review assistance.
• Apply critical engineering judgement to validate, refine, and take full ownership of AI-generated code before integration.

Testing & Quality:

• Achieve meaningful unit and integration test coverage across assigned frontend and backend components.
• Participate actively in peer code reviews, providing and receiving constructive technical feedback.
• Contribute to CI/CD quality gates by ensuring code passes automated test suites before merging.

System Integration:

• Integrate with internal and third-party services including payment gateways, identity providers, and core banking APIs.
• Write and maintain integration tests to validate service contracts and end-to-end data flows.

CI/CD & DevOps:

• Manage own CI/CD pipeline contributions, configure build steps, run automated tests, and troubleshoot pipeline failures.
• Follow Git branching strategies and raise well-structured pull requests with clear context and test evidence.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with product managers, QA engineers, and platform teams within Enterprise Engineering to clarify requirements and testing scope.
• Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming sessions.
• Support onboarding of junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the team.

Documentation:

• Produce technical documentation for features, APIs, and data models to team standards.
• Maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and contribute to engineering runbooks.

What We're Seeking:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience with relevant professional certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on full stack development experience delivering production-grade features on technology projects.
• Proficient in TypeScript and JavaScript. Working knowledge of Java for Spring Boot backend services.
• Independently builds React applications, proficient with hooks, Context API, routing (React Router), and state management libraries.
• Build NestJS or equivalent services independently, proficient with dependency injection, guards, interceptors, middleware, and TypeORM integration.
• Working knowledge in Spring Boot services, e.g. JPA/Hibernate, Spring Security, and REST API design
• Productive user of at least one AI coding tool (e.g. ILMU, Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot); applies engineering judgement to validate AI-generated output.
• Familiar with PostgreSQL or MySQL and ORM-based data modeling. Exposure to NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) is an advantage.
• Proficient in Jest / Supertest (Node/TypeScript) and/or JUnit / Mockito (Java) for unit and integration testing.
• Working knowledge of Git workflows, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with Docker basics.
• Solid understanding of Agile (Scrum/Kanban) methodologies. Participates actively in sprint ceremonies.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration within Enterprise Engineering.
• Familiarity with digital banking and/or fintech applications is an advantage.
