岗位职责

Virtualization Engineer is responsible to deploy, monitor, manage and maintain inventory for all physical hardware and software use for virtualization farm, ensure the system is running fine 24/7, ensure the hardware/software always in active maintenance support and to protect the system by following the ITSEC guideline.


  1. Infrastructure Technologies: Deep understanding of infrastructure components such as networks, servers, storage systems, data centers, cloud computing platforms, virtualization technologies, and cybersecurity principles. This knowledge enables you to make informed decisions during project planning and implementation.
  2. Project Management Methodologies: Familiarity with project management frameworks such as PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge), PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments), Agile, and Scrum is essential. Each methodology offers unique approaches to project planning, execution, and monitoring, and you should be able to select the most suitable one based on project requirements.
  3. Risk Management: Being able to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks is crucial for successful project delivery. You should understand risk management principles and techniques and apply them throughout the project lifecycle to minimize the impact of potential threats.
  4. Budgeting and Financial Management: Knowledge of budgeting processes, cost estimation techniques, and financial management principles is necessary for managing project budgets effectively. You should be able to develop accurate cost estimates, track project expenses, and make budgetary decisions to ensure projects stay within approved financial constraints.
  5. Stakeholder Management: Effective communication and stakeholder engagement are key to project success. You should understand stakeholder needs, expectations, and communication preferences, and be able to establish and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Procurement and Vendor Management: Infrastructure projects often involve procuring goods and services from external vendors and suppliers. You should understand procurement processes, contract management principles, and vendor evaluation criteria to select and manage vendors effectively.
  7. Quality Management: Ensuring that infrastructure projects meet quality standards and deliverables is essential. You should understand quality management principles, methodologies, and techniques and implement quality assurance and quality control measures to monitor and improve project outcomes.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Depending on the industry and project scope, you may need to comply with various regulatory requirements and standards. Understanding relevant regulations, compliance frameworks, and industry standards is essential for ensuring project legality and adherence to best practices.
  9. Technical Documentation and Reporting: Clear and concise documentation is critical for project transparency and knowledge transfer. You should be proficient in creating project documentation, including project charters, plans, status reports, and technical specifications, to effectively communicate project information to stakeholders.
  10. Continuous Learning and Adaptation: The technology landscape is constantly evolving, and as an Infrastructure Project Manager, you should be committed to continuous learning and professional development. Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to enhance your skills and adapt to changing project requirements.

Technologies:

  1. Networking: Understanding networking concepts is essential as networks form the backbone of most IT infrastructures. You should be familiar with networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs. Additionally, knowledge of networking hardware, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, is important for designing and troubleshooting network architectures.
  2. Servers and Operating Systems: Servers play a critical role in hosting applications, databases, and services within an organization. Familiarity with server hardware, operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux), virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and server management tools is necessary for provisioning, configuring, and managing server infrastructure.
  3. Storage Systems: Storage technologies are essential for storing and managing data within an organization. You should understand different types of storage solutions, including direct-attached storage (DAS), network-attached storage (NAS), and storage area networks (SAN). Knowledge of RAID configurations, data replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies is also important for ensuring data availability and integrity.
  4. Virtualization: Virtualization technologies allow organizations to optimize resource utilization and improve scalability and flexibility. You should be familiar with hypervisor technologies, such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, and understand concepts like virtual machines (VMs), containers, and virtual networking.
  5. Cybersecurity: Ensuring the security of infrastructure assets and data is paramount. You should have a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus software, encryption, and security best practices. Collaborating with cybersecurity specialists is important for implementing robust security measures.
  6. Monitoring and Management Tools: Utilizing monitoring and management tools is essential for effectively managing infrastructure environments. Familiarity with tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, and SolarWinds for monitoring network performance, system health, and security incidents is beneficial. Additionally, knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef can streamline infrastructure management tasks.
  7. Collaboration and Communication Technologies: Collaboration tools facilitate communication and teamwork among project stakeholders. Understanding collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, or Zoom, as well as project management tools like Jira or Trello, can enhance project coordination and productivity.
