About ModernLMS
ModernLMS is a Malaysian eLearning technology company and Malaysia’s only certified Moodle Partner. We develop and support Learning Management Systems, branded mobile applications and Moodle integrations for corporations, government agencies and universities—including large-scale platforms serving more than 300,000 end users.
We are looking for an experienced System Technical Support Lead to oversee ModernLMS’s technical operations, coordinate cross-functional technical teams and ensure that client issues and project deliverables are handled professionally within agreed timelines and SLAs.
This is a client-facing technical leadership role—not an internal IT helpdesk position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage ModernLMS’s technical team, currently comprising the Technical Support, Web Development and Infrastructure departments, with responsibility for work allocation, cross-department coordination, technical quality, team performance, project delivery and SLA achievement.
- Monitor support tickets, incidents and technical requests, assign priorities and ensure timely resolution.
- Take ownership of escalated issues involving Moodle, LMS platforms, web applications, mobile applications, integrations, databases, servers and hosting infrastructure.
- Coordinate investigations across Support, Web Development and Infrastructure teams to identify root causes and implement appropriate solutions.
- Troubleshoot user access, enrolment, courses, plugins, APIs, notifications, system configurations and application performance.
- Review application logs, server logs, database queries and monitoring information during technical investigations.
- Liaise professionally with corporate, university and government clients during technical incidents and escalations.
- Provide clients and Management with clear progress updates, technical explanations and resolution plans.
- Coordinate with developers on bugs, code fixes, integrations, testing and production releases.
- Oversee infrastructure-related matters including server availability, web services, SSL, DNS, backups, monitoring and hosting performance.
- Maintain technical SOPs, troubleshooting guides, system documentation and knowledge-base articles.
- Coach team members on troubleshooting, documentation, client communication and technical best practices.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to systems, processes and team workflows.
Requirements

- Approximately 5–7 years of experience across technical support, web development, application support or infrastructure operations.
- Practical experience coordinating or supervising a multidisciplinary technical team.
- Strong understanding of web development concepts, including web applications, APIs, databases, front-end and back-end systems.
- Working knowledge of Linux servers, server architecture, cloud or hosted environments and web servers such as Nginx or Apache.
- Familiarity with DNS, SSL, networking fundamentals, system monitoring, backups and application logs.
- Experience using ticketing or service-management tools and working according to SLAs.
- Strong written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Able to explain complex technical matters clearly to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on Moodle or Moodle Workplace experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise, university or government systems.
- Familiarity with PHP, SQL, Git, cloud hosting and mobile applications.
- ITIL Foundation, Linux, cloud or Moodle-related certifications are advantageous.
