First Point Group is recruiting for a Network Implementation Engineer (VMware NSX + Cisco Nexus / Catalyst) to join a Data Centre transformation project. This is an exciting opportunity on a joint project between 2 famous global brands.

VMware NSX implementation/deployment experience is mandatory for this role.

Please note: Sponsorship cannot be provided. Candidates must already live in Malaysia, have the right to work and able to attend Kuala Lumpur Data Centre 2/3 days per week.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Network Implementation Engineer with deep expertise across enterprise networking, data centre technologies and network security. You will play a key role in delivering implementation and deployment projects involving Cisco Routing & Switching, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Nexus, VMware NSX and enterprise wireless solutions.

This is a hands-on technical position suited to someone who enjoys building, implementing and supporting large-scale enterprise network environments while working alongside architecture, project delivery and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure and implement Cisco Routing & Switching infrastructure across enterprise and data centre environments.
• Deliver Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Nexus implementations, migrations and upgrades.
• Implement VMware NSX networking, including Distributed Firewall (DFW) policies and micro-segmentation.
• Support firewall deployments, configuration and integration within enterprise environments.
• Deploy enterprise wireless networking solutions across customer sites.
• Assist with network migration, cutover and implementation activities.
• Perform technical validation, testing and troubleshooting during project delivery.
• Work closely with architects to implement approved low-level designs.
• Resolve implementation issues whilst ensuring minimal disruption to production environments.
• Produce technical implementation documentation, configuration records and handover documentation.
• Support project teams throughout deployment, testing and transition into operational support.
• Follow change management, security and operational best practices.

Required Technical Skills

Minimum 7 years' expert-level experience in:

• Cisco Routing & Switching
• Cisco Catalyst
• Cisco Nexus

Minimum 4 years' hands-on experience with:

• VMware NSX
• Distributed Firewall (DFW)
• Enterprise Firewall technologies
• Enterprise Wireless networking
• Experience implementing enterprise LAN, WAN and Data Centre networking solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
• Experience supporting complex deployment and migration projects.

Essential Experience

• Enterprise network implementation.
• Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching.
• VMware NSX implementation.
• Firewall deployment and configuration.
• Wireless infrastructure implementation.
• Network migration and cutover activities.
• Technical troubleshooting during project delivery.

Desirable Skills (nice to have)

• Data centre networking deployments.
• Conceptual understanding of DNS.
• Exposure to Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN).
• Familiarity with Load Balancers (F5, Citrix ADC or similar).
• Knowledge of enterprise security best practices.
• Experience working within ITIL-based environments.
• Exposure to large enterprise or managed service environments.

Desirable Certifications

• Cisco CCNP Enterprise or CCIE
• VMware VCP-NV / VCP-NV 2024+
• Fortinet NSE / FCP (desirable)
• Cisco Wireless certifications
• ITIL Foundation
