Technical Purchaser | Shipping Company

Location: Singapore

Position Type: Full-time


About the Role

We are working with an international shipping company int he search for a detail-oriented and proactive Technical Purchaser to join their team in Singapore. You will manage end-to-end procurement activities for assigned vessels, ensuring cost-efficient, compliant, and timely delivery of technical spares, stores, and services in close collaboration with Technical and Marine Superintendents.


Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement & Logistics Execution: Source quotes, conduct price comparisons, negotiate with suppliers, and issue POs in alignment with framework contracts and company procedures.
  • Supply Chain & Delivery: Coordinate emergency and routine deliveries to prevent off-hire time. Plan cost-effective logistics for spares, safety equipment renewals, overhauls, and repairs.
  • Dry-docking & Claims: Process major orders for class renewals and assist Superintendents with claim-related procurement and documentation.
  • Financial & Inventory Control: Track requisitions, manage vessel budgets, conduct monthly expenditure forecasting, review invoices for accuracy, and assist accounting with payment queries.
  • System & Vendor Management: Maintain full procurement records, manage supplier performance/databases, and serve as the main point of contact for vendor inquiries.
  • Stakeholder & Crew Communication: Provide regular updates to vessel crew regarding delivery status and quarterly supply planning; maintain clear communication with internal teams and clients.
  • Compliance & Cyber Security: Adhere to company manuals, KPIs, PDPA standards, and maintain strict awareness of cybersecurity risks and protocols.


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Shipping, Supply Chain / Logistics, or Business Administration.
  • Experience: Prior experience in maritime procurement with an established local/regional supplier network is highly advantageous (fresh/junior candidates with strong relevant training welcome).
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of shipboard technical systems and spare parts.
  • Key Competencies: Strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen, well-organized work approach, and excellent written/verbal communication.
