Lead all process engineering activities and serve as the focal point for the process discipline.
Plan, coordinate, review, and approve process engineering deliverables within the agreed schedule and project requirements.
Provide technical direction and guidance to process engineers, engineering contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
Develop and review key process deliverables, including:
Design Basis and process philosophies
Heat and material balances
Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Equipment and instrument datasheets
Process simulations and calculations
Cause and effect charts
Safeguarding and control narratives
Lead or review hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, line sizing, relief and flare studies, utility assessments, and process simulations.
Review existing facilities and identify requirements for brownfield modifications, production reactivation, debottlenecking, and facility upgrades.
Ensure that new or modified systems are properly integrated with existing offshore facilities and operating requirements.
Lead process input into HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, design reviews, constructability reviews, and other process safety activities.
Review contractor deliverables, vendor documentation, technical bids, and engineering proposals.
Identify technical risks, resolve process engineering issues, and recommend practical solutions.
Coordinate closely with operations, projects, subsurface, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, technical safety, and other engineering disciplines.
Support Management of Change, operational readiness, commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities where required.
Monitor the quality, schedule, and technical performance of process engineering work.
Ensure compliance with company requirements, project specifications, PETRONAS technical standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable international codes.
Provide regular technical updates and recommendations to project and engineering management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of relevant process engineering experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
Proven experience in a Lead Process Engineer, Process Engineering Lead, or equivalent technical leadership position.
Strong experience with offshore production facilities, fixed platforms, FPSOs, brownfield modifications, or mature producing assets.
Strong knowledge of oil and gas processing systems, including:
Oil and gas separation
Gas compression and treatment
Produced-water treatment
Relief and flare systems
Utilities and chemical-injection systems
Process control and safeguarding
Proficient in process simulation and engineering software, preferably Aspen HYSYS.
Demonstrated experience leading HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and multidisciplinary engineering reviews.
Familiar with relevant API, ASME, ISO, IEC, PETRONAS, and other applicable industry standards.
Able to independently lead process engineering activities and manage multiple technical interfaces.
Strong leadership, stakeholder-management, technical-writing, and problem-solving capabilities.
Available for a 6-month contract assignment in Kuala Lumpur.
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting offshore brownfield redevelopment, production reactivation, debottlenecking, or life-extension projects.
Previous experience working with an upstream operator or operator’s project-management team.
Familiarity with Malaysian offshore operating requirements and PETRONAS technical standards.
Experience supporting commissioning, start-up, or operational-readiness activities.
Professional Engineer registration or relevant professional certification would be an advantage.
