Role Purpose
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and company assets. This role involves monitoring premises, controlling access, preventing unauthorized activities, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures. The Security Officer serves as the first line of defense in protecting people, property, and information, while promoting a secure and orderly workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular security patrols throughout the shipyard premises.
- Control and monitor access at gates, including verification of staff, contractors, visitors, and vehicles
- Enforce ISPS Code requirements and shipyard security procedures
- Perform bag checks, vehicle searches, and identity verification when required
- Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and security equipment
- Maintain accurate security logs, patrol records, and incident reports
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms
- Assist during fire, safety, pollution, or emergency situations
- Report security breaches, suspicious activities, and non-compliance issues to supervisors
- Coordinate with supervisors, port authorities, vessel crews, and relevant agencies when required
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and shipyard operational rules
Requirements
- Minimum secondary school education or equivalent
- Valid Singapore Security Officer license (PLRD)
- ISPS awareness training (preferred)
- Physically fit and able to work in an industrial environment
- Able to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
- Basic computer skills for reporting and system entries
