MISC is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team in Kuala Lumpur for contract basic roles.


JOB PURPOSE:

Provide construction support to FSO/FPSO projects by coordinating construction

activities, resolving technical and execution issues, standardizing construction

practices, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in

compliance with company, client, and Class requirements.


Construction Management

  • Provide construction support to multiple FSO/FPSO projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate construction activities between project teams, Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Procurement, and Commissioning.
  • Review construction execution plans, work packs, and construction methodologies.
  • Monitor construction progress, productivity, schedule, and resource utilization.
  • Identify construction risks and recommend mitigation measures.


Technical Support

  • Provide technical guidance on construction-related issues during fabrication, integration, offshore installation, and commissioning.
  • Review engineering deliverables for constructability and installation feasibility.
  • Support the resolution of construction-related technical queries and non-conformities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces between Engineering, Construction, and Operations.


Construction Governance

  • Develop and maintain construction procedures, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Promote lessons learned and continuous improvement across projects.
  • Support construction readiness reviews, gate reviews, and project assurance activities.
  • Conduct technical audits and construction reviews for ongoing projects.


Contractor and Yard Support

  • Coordinate with fabrication yards, EPC contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Review contractor construction plans, schedules, and manpower strategies.
  • Support site teams in resolving construction and fabrication issues.
  • Monitor contractor performance and recommend improvement actions.


Project Controls

  • Support project teams in monitoring construction KPIs, schedule, and cost performance.
  • Review construction progress reports and identify potential delays.
  • Participate in recovery planning for schedule-critical activities.


Quality, HSE and Compliance

  • Ensure construction activities comply with company standards, Class requirements, statutory regulations, and client specifications.
  • Promote safe construction practices and support HSE initiatives.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams on inspection, testing, punch-list closure, and quality improvement.


Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineering Leads, Operations, clients, Classification Societies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare construction status reports and management presentations.
  • Support management in construction strategy and decision-making.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Marine, Naval Architecture, Structural, or

a related engineering discipline.

  • Professional Engineer registration is an advantage
  • Minimum 5–8 years of construction experience in offshore oil and gas projects.
  • Experience in FSO/FPSO newbuild, conversion, redeployment, reactivation, or life-extension projects.
  • Experience working with fabrication yards and EPC/EPCI contractors.
  • Familiarity with Classification Society requirements such as ABS, DNV, and BV.
