We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Etch Module Engineering to lead the Etch Engineering organization within a 12-inch wafer fabrication facility. This leadership role is responsible for driving manufacturing excellence, process capability, technology transfer, yield improvement, cost optimization, and engineering talent development across all Etch operations.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and technical leadership while collaborating closely with Manufacturing, Process Integration, Device Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Yield Enhancement, Quality, and R&D teams to support both technology development and high-volume manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Etch Module Engineering organization, including multiple engineering teams and people managers.
- Define and execute the long-term technical roadmap for Etch processes supporting advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
- Drive continuous improvement in process capability, yield, defect reduction, equipment productivity, cycle time, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Lead technology transfer activities from development to high-volume manufacturing, ensuring stable production ramp and process qualification.
- Develop strategies to improve process robustness, manufacturability, and operational excellence across all Etch technologies.
- Partner closely with Process Integration Engineering (PIE), Device Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, and Equipment Engineering to resolve complex process and yield challenges.
- Lead root cause investigations for critical process excursions and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Establish engineering KPIs and monitor operational performance, including yield, SPC, defectivity, cost of ownership, equipment utilization, and productivity.
- Manage engineering resources, budgets, capacity planning, and organizational development to support business objectives.
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders, building a strong succession pipeline.
- Represent the Etch organization in executive leadership reviews, customer engagements, technology planning, and strategic business initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
- 15+ years of semiconductor manufacturing experience, including extensive expertise in dry etch process engineering within a 12-inch wafer fabrication environment.
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience managing engineering teams and engineering managers.
- Strong technical knowledge of plasma etch processes for logic, analog, mixed-signal, power semiconductor, or specialty technologies.
- Demonstrated success in leading technology transfer, yield improvement, process optimization, and high-volume manufacturing operations.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor process integration and interactions across Lithography, Thin Film, CMP, Implant, Diffusion, Wet Process, and Metrology.
- Experience driving engineering excellence through statistical process control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), FMEA, and advanced data analytics.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical priorities, manufacturing performance, and organizational objectives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead large cross-functional organizations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
