Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Center Design Engineer to support data center site selection, master-planning, design review, construction oversight, and commissioning of critical infrastructure systems (electrical system, cooling plant, air handling, and liquid cooling infrastructure). This role works across the full data center lifecycle — from technical due diligence on prospective sites through to handover to operations — partnering with external data center providers and various internal stakeholders to ensure DC critical systems meet the basis of design, redundancy, and reliability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support data center site selection activities, including technical compliance evaluation of critical system design submissions from data center operators as well as supporting resource due diligence such as land, energy, connectivity, etc.
- Involved in assessment of various data center development model such as greenfield, retrofit or repurposing, built-to-suit, powered land, powered core & shell, etc.
- Work closely with various stakeholders to develop technical solutions and to ensure critical system requirements are incorporated into data center infrastructure design and data hall fit-out, including for high-density and liquid-cooled GPU deployments from overall cluster design, electrical, cooling, cluster connectivity requirement, etc.
- Support testing & commissioning activities, etc.
- Be part of development of data center design architecture involving upcoming technologies such as high voltage DC system, solid-state transformers, etc. to ensure readiness to support future pipeline of GPUs.
- Other ad-hoc responsibilities as required to support the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline
- 6–8 years of relevant experience in data center infrastructure design
- Experienced in different type of data center development model, such as greenfield development, brownfield retrofit or repurposing of existing development, built-to-suit, powered land or powered core & shell, etc.
- Involvement in large-scale data center deployment involving high density liquid-cooling system. Experience in full engineering lifecycle (design, delivery, T&C, operations) are highly preferred.
- Familiarity with various types of centralized cooling plant systems (air-cooled, water-cooled or hybrid) and liquid cooling infrastructure (CDUs, manifolds, coolant distribution) is highly advantageous given increasing GPU/high-density deployments
- Good understanding of medium to large-scale GPU clusters design requirement, from electrical distribution, FWS and TCS loop, network inter-connects, etc.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent local certification is a plus
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with ability to work across various stakeholders with different requirements.
