Job Title: Freight (Shipping) Manager

Location: SINGAPORE

With a commitment to safety, reliability, and sustainability, we are seeking a capable and experienced Freight (Shipping) Manager to oversee and optimize our global shipping and freight operations.

Job Summary

The Freight (Shipping) Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of our international and domestic freight logistics, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of goods. The successful candidate will coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor the movement of shipments (import/export) by sea, air, and land.
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers.
  • Negotiate freight rates and service contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and service quality.
  • Monitor shipping schedules, documentation (B/L, invoices, packing lists, MSDS, etc.), and ensure timely dispatch and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, including IMDG, IATA, and local customs requirements.
  • Liaise with internal teams (sales, procurement, warehouse) to align shipping activities with business operations.
  • Resolve any transportation-related issues, such as delays, damages, or customs holds.
  • Maintain accurate records, freight tracking reports, and KPIs to support performance analysis and cost control.
  • Optimize logistics processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics management, preferably in the chemical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of INCOTERMS, international trade compliance, and customs clearance procedures.

Skills:

  • Excellent negotiation, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics/shipping software (e.g., SAP, CargoWise, etc.)
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Other:

  • Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and documentation is a plus.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in other regional languages is an advantage.
