Key Responsibilities:
The Contract Manager is responsible for managing the entire contract lifecycle, from contract drafting and negotiation to administration, compliance, claims management, and contract close-out. The role ensures that contractual obligations, commercial interests, and legal requirements are effectively managed to minimize risks and maximize project and business performance.
Responsibilities:
Contract Administration
- Prepare, review, negotiate, and administer contracts, agreements, and related documentation.
- Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, legal requirements, and project objectives.
- Maintain an organized contract management system and contract database.
- Monitor contract validity, milestones, deliverables, and renewal dates.
Commercial Management
- Review contract terms and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Advise management on contractual rights, obligations, and liabilities.
- Monitor project costs, variations, claims, and contractual entitlements.
- Ensure proper implementation of payment terms, retention sums, liquidated damages, and warranties.
Tender & Procurement Support
- Assist in preparing tender documents, Requests for Proposal (RFP), and contract conditions.
- Evaluate contractual and commercial aspects of bids and proposals.
- Participate in contractor, consultant, and supplier negotiations.
Claims & Dispute Resolution
- Manage Extension of Time (EOT), Variation Orders (VO), loss and expense claims, and contractual disputes.
- Coordinate with legal advisors, consultants, and project teams on dispute resolution matters.
- Prepare contractual notices and correspondence.
- Support arbitration, adjudication, mediation, or litigation processes where necessary.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Identify contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Conduct periodic contract audits and reviews.
- Monitor insurance, bonds, guarantees, and statutory compliance requirements.
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, legal advisors, and government authorities.
- Provide contractual advice and support to project teams and management.
- Conduct contract awareness and training sessions for relevant departments.
Reporting
- Prepare monthly contract status reports.
- Track key contractual milestones and obligations.
- Report contract performance, claims status, disputes, and risk exposure to management.
