Data Center Operations Engineer (L1.5)

Location: Johor Bahru, Malaysia (On-site)

Work Arrangement: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Local public holidays off)

Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive Data Center Operations Engineer (L1.5) to manage the day-to-day operations of our enterprise data center facilities. You will handle server and network equipment maintenance, hardware troubleshooting, cabling, and remote infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities

• Hardware & Servers: Install, mount, and inspect servers; replace faulty components and perform basic diagnostics.
• Network & Cabling: Support network device deployment, manage structured cabling (installation, labeling, organization), and coordinate with telecom carriers.
• Incident Support: Handle initial troubleshooting for server/infrastructure issues, collect logs, and manage pre-vendor triage.
• Remote Infrastructure: Manage support tickets, provision IP addresses, and create/modify/decommission virtual machines (VMs).
• Inventory & Facilities: Maintain accurate asset and spare parts tracking; coordinate rack power and environmental monitoring with facility teams.
• Coordination: Work closely with third-party vendors, logistics partners, and internal teams.

What We Are Looking For

• Education: Diploma in IT, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Practical experience in data center operations or IT infrastructure environments.
• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with server hardware, basic networking, operating systems, and structured cabling.
• Soft Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to work independently, and a knack for clear documentation.
• Language: Mandarin proficiency is an advantage (required for regional support).

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Experience working in enterprise or colocation data centers.
• Familiarity with virtualization environments and remote infrastructure management.
